Coming back to another Olympic post! Today is the 1st day of the Paralympics games and I don't hear or see ANYTHING in the news about it!... it amazes me how the Olympics got such a enormous amount of attention and these people that trained as hard as all the athletes doesn't get any recognition...And I'm not saying this because of the Dev. factor; is just not fair.....

Natasha, GE, the parent company of NBC which covered the Olympics has a website devoted to Paralympic coverage (I know, it's a said statement that with all their channels and near round the clock televising of the Olympics that they can't provide even one channel to cover the Paralympics, either live or in taped and edited format). You can check their coverage at this link: www.universalsports.com//SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=23000&KEY=&SPID=13327&SPSID=107765I believe there are other sites (like the IPC - International Paralympic Committee, and individual national paralympic websites) that might have webstreaming in addition to articles.

The Paralympics, in theory are being televised...but on this obscure channel, that I don't think a lot of people may have...I actually do, and it's in HD, too.

The only trouble I have with Paralympics is that everybody thinks if you're in a chair, then you have to race, don't you? I don't know how many times people have asked me with this 'inspired' grin if I race. Then they look kinda disappointed when I say 'Only from party to party.' lol Another great stereotype is you either work in the gimp-field, computers or a Call Center, which I do the latter. lol So, guess I'm feeding the machine.

I'm pretty impressed with the coverage here, actually. Mind you, some of the reporters need to do more research... I've already caught a couple saying really stupid things And then sometimes they just start talking about "inspiration" and that kind of shit, but not much. They are trying. They've already finished two days... the opening ceremony was on Saturday. I've watched some swimming, but not much else, they were showing long track races today, but I can't stand those no matter what. They're focusing on sports with Spanish athletes, so for many of them there's only a small summary, but it's something! My main problem is that I won't be home when the quad rugby starts... I need to figure out if the videos will be available somewhere.

I hear that a lot, too. I tell them "Every day is my olympics" and have a good laugh with them. ;D

Zilch here so far, and neither paralympicsport.tv, nor universalsports.com, are working for me. Urgh. On the up-side, one of our members is currently in Beijing and I wish him all the best! I haven't heard from him in a while, but I saw his name on the Canadian paralympic team roster and was very excited.

I've written a blog post with 6 different websites where you can view live and/or recorded video of the 2008 Paralympics in the English-speaking world: Paralympics Coverage. Hope that helps!
