I came across this saying the other day: Life can only be understood backwards but it must be lived forwards - Soren Keigegaad. No idea who this bloke is, but its a bloody good saying . Have you ever come across a saying that was particularly appropriate to what was happening in your life at a point in time? Maybe you have a saying that has touched you as your signature? What are some of the sayings that have resonated with you? Is this a way for the cosmos to give us poor mere mortals some guidance?

I have an entire wall of quotes in my office... some of them are long... some of them are short: No matter what the monster looks like, I will hug it. (... that one is from a book... I can't remember the author ... he was in a cave and scared... so I can give you that much at least... ) Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. ---Albert SweitzerPeople may not remember exactly what you did, or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel. You can never overestimate the power of your love. It is a fire that, once lit, may burn forever. A visionary is one who can find his way by moonlight, and see the dawn before the rest of the world. ---Oscar Wilde
One that I spend a lot of time with... that give me great comfort is... Even if our efforts of attention seem for years to be producing no result, one day a light that is in exact proportion to them will flood the soul. ---Simon Weil One I need to sit with more is: The best soldier does not attack. The supreme fighter succeeds without violence. The greatest conqueror wins without struggle. The most successful manager leads without dictating. This is intelligent non-agressiveness. This is called mastery. ---Lao Tse
One that amuses me: The word 'politics' is derived from the word 'poly', meaning 'many', and the word 'ticks', meaning 'blood sucking parasites'. - Larry Hardiman ...heh

"Under the Borgias there was warfare, bloodshed and murder and they had Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they have brotherly love, 500 years of democracy and peace. And what have they produced? The cuckoo clock! "-Harry Lime in The Third Man

In my really "bad days", there's a quote I can't avoid thinking: "S.S D.D: Same Shit, Different Day"(Sorry for the language!) But there's a poem from Gibran Jhalil Gibran that I read when I was 13 that impressed me so much that I wrote it down and framed it for my mother (she used to be a little bit suffocating) I tried to translate it the best I could, and forgive me cause it's not a quote and it is quite extense: Your children are not your children, they are children and daughters of the life, desirous of itself. They don't come from you, but through you, and though they are with you, they don't belong you. You can give them your love, but not your thoughts, because they have their own thoughts. You can shelter their bodies, but not their souls, because they live in the tomorrow's house, that you cannot visit, not even in dreams. You can make an effort in being as them, but don't try to make them similar to you, because the life doesn't go back neither stops in the past. You are the arches so that your children, alive arrows, rush to the space. The archer sees the mark in the infinite, and he is who bends you, with his power, so that his arrows leave speedy to the distance. That the bending in the archer's hands be your happiness; because that who loves the arrow that flies, also loves the arch that doesn't travel.

Stud Pony, love your saying - hope you don't mind if I borrow it, the royalties are on their way to you ;D. Clover, love yours as well. Here are a few more that I've liked; Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new - Albert Einstein (but then again, its all relative - LOL) After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music - Aldous Huxley I dislike feeling at home when I am abroad - George Bernard Shaw Also Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate it . We don't have anything similar here.

When someone disses me about not doing something ... I say "that's why god created tomorrow" - I reckon it's every procrastinator's favorite saying
