I want to thank everyone for all the useful information on this thread. Its pointed me in the right direction on how to solve the problem of going on holiday away from mainland Britain when I haven't been too enthusiatic with driving to the nearest ferry port. I should have realised that the major car rental companies cater provide cars with hand controls these days, but I haven't done any research on it.I don't have to now because of PD users helpfullness. Things do keep moving on and becoming far more widely available. I know I am similar and have not realised some access needs can be met without much hassle when once it was near impossible.

We stayed at the MGM back in 2011. Matisse gave us some good advice about the accessible rooms there. I guess they have some really small ones on a first floor wing so you should ask for one of the accessible ones on the regular floors. I think we were on the 10th floor or something like that. The room wasn't all that great accessibility-wise but it was do-able.

Up until now I wouldnt have wanted to know about this, but it could save me a lot of driving, not sure what to think about driving on the right though.

Didn't Ricky Springfield used to entertain there, oh he was dishy in his day.
