After reading this board for a while, I would like to introduce myself. I’m 39 years old, living in the Netherlands. I do have a fulltime job, an own house, a car and a manual wheelchair too…, but without a woman besides my side.
About my disability I can write a few pages but to keep a long story short due to a lack of oxygen a few days after birth With much effort I learned to move on my legs (walking isn’t the right word for it). I had two surgeries when I was little (5 and 8 years old). But I still couldn’t walk well. It got worse and by the age of 12 I’ve got a major surgery at my knees. After 3 months and two surgeries everything was more or less as designed. A couple months with much physiotherapy later. It was clear it didn’t worked out well. At the age of 17 I was declared stable and it isn’t changed since that time. So I’m totally dependent of a manual wheelchair. Only many scars on my legs remained.
But my disability will never holding me back to be active. I do like photography, reading, going to concerts (blues/ metal) or just going out for a dinner or some drinks for example Somewhere I found time to learn something; I have a bachelor degree in business engineering.

Hi!, RD! Welcome to the board! About your disability, I'd like to clarify something, if you don't mind... This "lack of oxygen" wich you had reffered, would be Cerebral Palsy? I'm asking this, because, I've CP but, in my case the lack of oxigen had happened during in labor and delivery process, not "a few days after birth" as you said. Such a way that I was born fainted with cianosys. In other words, the tip of all my fingers and toes had a bluish aspect and my face was somewhat purple. (At least, that's what my father told me when I started asking to him about it, some years later...)

Luckily enough it's just physical, above my knees I don't have problems. ps: I don't doubt I was purple when it happened
