(1) Isn't flat tire a beer. I believe it would be apropos for someone to give you a second (liquid) one to keep you happy. (2) … Bike shops aren't open until like, 9 pm where you live? Or was this a late night (extra) happy hour? Actually the beer is fat tire which I think is quite the opposite of a flat tire I have only had air filled tires on one electric chair and it was just the front wheels. I didn't even have that chair for a month before I had a puncture, that was when I lived in a city so there was a lot of debris on the sidewalk. I don't know why I let the sales rep convince me not to get solid tires, I think he lied and told me they weren't available. I switched back to solid and have never looked back since. They do ride a bit rougher but it's well worth it for the guarantee of no flats.

The guy at the shop obviously doesn't understand wheeler culture. He said, "yo you need new tires they are really worn!" I wanted to say, "nah we wear em down till you start seeing the fibers underneath the rubber!" But I just smiled and said, "I'll order new ones through my medical supply so I can write it off as a medical expense."

Solid tires bro, can't beat it. What he said. Took me a few years to be persuaded to try solid tyre ,I was put off by the rumour that they gave you a headache which turned out to be completely true.In terms of performance ,they are superior to semi-inflated tyres because there is less friction with the surface you are wheeling on,you don't have to keep your eyes permanently glued to the ground for sharp objects (only dog shit & drunks, depending on the time of day) & they last longer than pneumatics. The first pair i tried soaked up water lke a sponge when they became well work, but solid options you can get now dont have that problem. That's the only problem I have had with them in over 10 years.Overall, you get less hassle than with pneumatics

I try to keep extra tubes and a couple tools in my car with one of those compressors that plug into the lighter.I recomend the no flat thorn proof tubes made for mountan bikes. They have a gel in them that instantly can plug up small holes.I have had three or four punctures in a tire and they still hold air. Some fix a flats are better than others the bike stuff is thicker than the car fix a flat cans.On the bright side I can now change a tube in sixty seconds.
