Hey So this really is not related to being a dev or disabled But what are the things that make you incredibly happy? Like actual laugh out loud, smile like a crazy person happy? Given what attracts many of this to this board, I think we can safely cross one big thing of that list though So I have the day out ahead of me with nothing specific to do, and that makes me pretty f*cking happy (it's not easy having a busy life when you are lazy, you know). Any kind of wilderness is pretty thrilling too, especially when you get to be out and about in it for a little while. Deep and sprawling conversations, cooking amazing food, being in new places, those moments when you and your dog sigh at the same time... Anyway, I know it's off topic, but sometimes it's nice to share the love with each other here in a different way too

Orgasms make me pretty damned happy A successful hunting trip. Laying outside with my head on my pack. Waiting for the afternoon wind to die down on a September day in Alberta. Fooling an elk into thinking my calling is a call to love Doing something myself. Like building this damned trailer that's so close to being done. Cursed weather. Hot weather makes me happy. No snow to wheel through. See? I'm not so complicated

I like cuddling up with someone in a blanket nest and just losing myself in a movie. Or wandering around outside on a warm summer night, not going anywhere in particular.

I went and put a load if laundry in and thought more on this. Seeing my kids finally get it! You know that moment when something finally dawns on them? Having a few good solid friendships over many superficial ones. I would trust my friends to do anything for my children.
Making successful business decisions. I get a thrill when my plan comes together.
On my birthday 2 years ago,I was a happy happy guy. I loaded 2 vehicles on the trailer and had time to get to an afternoon farm auction. I got to combine two fun ventures in one trip. I was living the dream. I had a smile all day.
Simple things work for me. Good decision making. Doing what I want to do and no one else telling me when i can do it. Life's not very complicated most days.
Maybe more later.

I *really* love longer term victories too...training for something for months then exceeding your own expectations...that glow lasts a week or two for me. And yes, friendships that are able to grow with time, especially ones that have amazing depth and history, but you can still laugh at something ridiculous. And yes...one of the reasons I think I'm much happier and balanced as an adult is that active decision making process, and just being a successful grown up. No debt, except a shrinking mortgage, got my education out of the way...it probably sounds materialistic, and maybe it is, but that makes me happy in a really contented way. Travelling, new opportunities etc make me happy in a delirious woman-child kind of way. Both equally good But snuggles and blanket forts...that's...that's something special!

Make music and going to gigs makes me happy. Write poems makes me happy, like if I was healing myself with it. Going through a quite street hearing music at 3:45pm makes me really really happy. Give a surprise gift to the person I love and know that she likes it really really really makes me very happy. Watching Star Trek makes me incredibly happy!

I think there are drugs your body produces that cause these feelings--endorphins? I have a long list.......
Sex stuff of course Live music, but in a smaller setting, not a big concert Music on a great sound system Great writing on shows that makes me literally LOL--Entourage, Episodes, Californication A perfect margarita in Vegas A hug and "good night, daddy" from my daughter When any of my kids do something to give me a big hearty laugh My wife practicing guitar while I am getting ready for bed Winning (work stuff) A goodnight kiss "Guy" shows/movies with kick-ass scenes: Strike Back, 300, etc. A good lunch/dinner with fun friends

When I go to a conference and there's really cool science and I get to sit in a room of people and talk about what is and what could be. The feeling of rolling over and going back to sleep because I don't have to be anywhere today. Rat kisses. Going to lunch with my sister and talking insane fan theories. Liquor store runs with my best friend. (It admittedly helps that our liquor store is larger than some of the local grocery stores). That excitement that happens when you're at the very climax of a novel and you can't put it down. Strong arms around my waist (doesn't happen nearly enough). Data made beautiful. Making other people happy. Those random things that happen in really stressful situations and just make the story hilarious. When the next fic updates on AO3 and it's actually well written and well researched instead of vaguely sketchy and it has a para as the protagonist.

Hmmm.... I've heard of this 'happy' phenomenon....
Can't remember the last time I experienced it tho!

Big tick to so many of those...especially data made beautiful! I don't get to do it very much, but oh! It's like a symphony!

Wonderful topic!
- The thrill of overcoming a challenge, like finishing a game on the highest difficulty, or making a perfect custom splint. - When a client makes progress in therapy: mastering a new task, a confident smile, or a general look of peace that washes over the person. I feel happy for them, and that I was able to help them be successful. - Being around a woman who can express herself creatively in some way: it could be a sudden romantic gesture, a style of dress, eccentric body language, creating art, or even finding a unique way to solve a problem. - Finding a song that buries it's way into your heart. I love a lot of music, but once in awhile you find that one perfect song that you want to hear over and over again; it becomes a new personal anthem. - Flirting. I love the social rhythm of flirting: starting subtle, using clever wordplay, making jokes on the fly, sharing secrets, using body language, responding to body language. It's a fun challenge with the potential for a huge reward; meeting somebody special.

Read this and was cogitating on it outside, and it had just started to rain...I love that moment as you realise it's raining! But I also love everyone's beautiful thoughts
