I just found a pic from April of my visit to Baltimore with family. I‘ve been thinking several times after you had changed your profile pic how nice it looks, Dr. BiPAP Sachin! So I take this chance here to refer to that. It’s great we get to see your gentle kind eyes! The hat looks good, too... (since the hat was a subject on another thread a couple of days ago...;-))

This picture was posted on a Vintage Flea Market Instagram account that I follow. The flea market is local in my area. I thought some of you would like...

That's an interesting find, SouthernCalGal. Any idea of when they were made?

That's an interesting find, SouthernCalGal . Any idea of when they were made? The caption read as follows: "Vintage prosthetic arms $80. Not a shippable item." I have no idea how old they are.

So I've been fairly obsessed with the Remission EP by Skinny Puppy since I was in high school. (And that's no overstatement- I have tracked down and watched the films sampled in the tracks, and have emailed the artist behind the cover art to ask where he sampled the visual elements from....) I thrifted an old denim jacket and decided to make it into the record cover. A little dye (ok a lot of dye) and some wall paint left over from paining my bedroom, and voila! Very cool. I've never even heard of Skinny Puppy; giving them a listen now. And on a not completely unrelated note, I think I just decided on an activity for my next video. 🤗

And on a not completely unrelated note, I think I just decided on an activity for my next video. 🤗 They're an acquired taste, but worth exploring for sure. A lot of experimental acts have cited them as huge influence. Start with Assimilate or The Choke, both on their first full album: Bites. There are several "phases" of Skinny Puppy, and the good stuff ended abruptly when one of the band members passed away and the other two went a little kooky. So, I advise anyone giving them a gander to keep that caveat in mind- Stick to the stuff released before 1995, or you'll stray into very Not Good territory. Rabies was the last good album, it's a solid release but they took a hard turn toward more typical sound (Al Jourgenson of Ministyr was hanging around a lot, so I blame him for all the industrial metal guitar business happening in there.) Seriously, their albums are like a plot of M. Night Shyamalan's movies though. If I could rate the later ones negatively, hoo boy.

I hope it's okay to read this in Patrick Bateman's voice as though he's describing "Fore!" By Huey Lewis and the News. Because that is absolutely what just happened. And before you ask, Miss myrrh , I'm not taking you to dinner at Dorsia. Don't you know what happened to the last guy to try to get a table there? Yeeee. But yeah, at first listen, Skinny Puppy almost reminds me of "Cross" by Justice. It's definitely not what I'm used to, but I love trying out new music. 🤘🤘

It's definitely not what I'm used to, but I love trying out new music. 🤘🤘 You nailed it, and that's without even knowing about my crazy skincare routine. It's too bad you can't get into Dorsia though, I so would have loved to join you for the filming of a behind-the-scenes of their renowned sandwich prep line. Drop me a line when you've got a little more clout. And you're right, a lot of the rougher sounds in Justice are definitely similar to the harsh electronic riffs you'll find in early industrial electronica. While SP was pioneering the grungier, punkish sounds while Front 242 over in Belgium was getting hot and heavy with the synth... Parts of Let There Be Light practically sound like a computer trying to LARP as a steel mill. Nice parallel!
