As a dev I've never imagined a celebrity I thought was hot to be an amputee. I guess there are too many real amputees out there to worry about turning a celebrity into one.
Also maybe its a female thing, but why are you guys trying to turn women into devs? I mean most hot celebrity men are into AB females (like me), does that mean I could be with one of them if I wanted.....no. Maybe I'm to literal.

First, this whole thread was just something to talk about. I didn't mean it as an insult or to minimize disabilities. Second, I think celebrities should be open to dating wheelers. Celebrities are champions for races, gay, trans, etc. (as they should be). But disabilities are still taboo. As role models, I think it is about time a celebrity sees us as the smart, kind, funny, talented, sexual people that we are. Finally, I don't see it as "turning women". We are not the "dark side of the force". When I was in high school and college, I was always more attracted to petite brunettes. Recently, a friend has pointed out some blondes and redheads with some great physical and personality qualities. Did he turn me into anything? No, I think he just opened my eyes up a little.

I think it's a bit more complicated when you throw in the dev angle. If a celebrity was an MD dev, I think she absolutely would consider me for some NSA fun. It's fun to think about, but even if there are such devs, I kind of think my wife probably wouldn't let me......

I just want someone that sees a great guy in a wheelchair instead of a wheelchair with a guy in it.
This is the main difference I see between devs and non-devs.

This is the main difference I see between devs and non-devs. That is a thought provoking statement.... like almost makes a dev uncomfortable and squirmy feeling which i'm sure wasn't your intent... like obviously devs don't see a wheelchair with a guy in it and chase him down we're just more inclined to want to get to know the guy in the chair... it accomplishes both goals. Maybe i'm stating the obvious.

Maybe i'm stating the obvious. A good squirm, I hope. Well a self-reflective squirm perhaps.... One that makes me at least evaluate my feelings and attraction to disabled men. It makes me probe deeper and determine how superficial it may or may not be... I would like to believe my feelings aren't superficial and I've compared it in the past to the way a man is attracted to a blonde or brunette or a woman with great boobs... It makes my head turn it makes me look closer its an attractor but obviously not the only one for a relationship to be built on... i met a lot of scummy guys in the past that i just didn't click with at all being a dev was a door that opened and allowed me to see and get to know many men of many different disabilities but like any "dating pool" there's good and bad fish. I can see (in as much as possible) a guy's perspective tho of wanting to be appreciated and attractive just for who he is and women feel that way too... We don't just want to be chased because we have a pretty face or great boobs we want more... There's a kind of odd feminist theme here i can't articulate at the moment... lol Women don't like to be cat-called for example its objectifying and i imagine there's a line for men with disabilities too that could be crossed. I like to hope because *I* feel objectified when cat called that i would not in turn do something similar to a man i was attracted to. I think its just about being aware of my feelings and ensuring both parties are considered and treated respectfully and kindly in the process... that whole golden rule thing...
