Pet peeve time. I like books with dudes who limp. It seriously annoys me when I wait forever for a series book where the Hero was much more disabled by whatever injury he has when he was a secondary character and he's far LESS affected as a main character. Walks better, better balance, etc. Even when the injury had had plenty of time to heal BEFORE his appearance in his own book. No reason for the improvement, in fact, as anyone who's dealt with almost any kind of chronic condition can tell you, it's more likely to have gotten worse than better-particularly in a historical setting. The book I'm referring to is London's Late Night Scandal by Anabelle Bryant. Have you read Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo? Main character has a limp that is not downplayed! Thanks! And now, I'm off to shop the Amazon!

*sigh* I've collected and read more than 120 book over the last year, most of them with a blind MC, few with MCs with other disabilities, most m/f, some m/m. Some books were good. Few were fantastic, others were simply nice, some unbearable. Most were romances. Here starts my real problem: Yes, I like a nice romance. But... they normally end after what I would like to call the "initiation"-phase. They end at: "Do you want to be my significant other?" -"Yes!" - "Hooray!" (or little later, with the wedding-bells). And I sit there, unsatisfied, and wonder how life went on after that. How did it all develop? Life does not end (or so I'm told, as a lifelong single I can only rely on what I see or hear from others) after that point. There can be decades of life after that, and I really can not imagine that they suddenly become dull and completely uninteresting and without any room for "romance" and sweetness and sex at all. I don't know if it is wise to mention a name, but Diana Gabaldon got her main couple married within the first (dunno) 500 pages - and found thousands and thousands of pages to fill very fascinating afterwards. I do not want to believe she is the only one! Is she?
From what I see around me, life as a couple can be quite interesting, full of adventures, of obstacles, of heights and depths... does nobody want to read - and to write - the tales?
Are there novels (or the like) I simply was not able to find, that deal with the topic of "family life" and disability (blindness/vi preferred) in a nice way? I found the "Heart-Stories" from Kay Springsteen (but she, too, stopped much too early, I think), and there are the Katla-novels "Amsterdam assassin" - although they are no romances, but thrillers (and the author has health-issues, so I fear there will not be more of them).
Maybe there is no market for the books I'm looking for?

Not a romance and Evan and Jesse aren't married, but they are a well established couple that deals with a pretty significant after their romance. I love the series... Jesse Blackburn is definitely one of my top book boyfriends. He is a wheeler after a hit and run accident that is the focus of book 2, but when the series starts, he is already in a wheelchair. Hmmm... talking about this might require a reread!

Maybe I need to power through it to get to book 2 now that you say that!!

I'm with you on this, which is why I'm a series junkie. (And not to shamelessly self plug, but that's why I write series). I want to watch them grow as a couple, have kids, etc... But not everyone is hardwired this way. Sigh. PWD or no PWD I'd prefer to sit down and binge a drama series on TV rather than watch a movie. Same with my reading. Sadly most of the series out nowadays in the romance genre change couples every book, which in turn for authors means that you can sell the books standalone. If I really fall for a couple I want more of them. BUT these books just don't sell as well, that's why they are hard to find. Speaking from experience, you lose about half the readers on the sequel/second book with the same couple.

He just wasn't in it enough that it captured me...but maybe I do need to try again at this series.

He becomes a much more prevelent character as the series continues. And if I recall, the first book is where he gets kidnapped and manages to escape using a wheeling desk chair...

Any new books about? Or oldies worth rereading? I’m having that itch again - need some new material (or at least material where I’ve forgotten huge parts of the plot so it feels fresh enough)☺️

Just finished "Dein Weg, meine Liebe" from Alizée Korte, it was a recommendation from a fellow dev. It's a really good, well written book, in German though.

Reading “ Kiwi Rules” by Rosalind James. BKA. Really good story so far and several devy spots to me. No inspirational porn stuff. She’s definitely not a dev but really enjoying the story and writing. Looks like there is some light bondage stuff coming up just FYI.

I also loved Kiwi Rules. Another book I read around the same time which was great is J.T. Geissinginger's Midnight Valentine featuring a selectiv mute. Something different and not particularly devvy (at least not for me) but a great story!

Amazon just recommended to me a book called Devoted by Dean Koontz. It's not a love story but is a suspense story about an 11 year old who does not speak and his dog. If the main character was older I would buy it but it doesnt sound very devy. Someone else might be interested though.

Koontz is a great writer but not what I’m wanting right now. Need pure escapism, maybe some smut right now. 😆
