I looked it up and came across this thread: www.reddit.com/r/RomanceBooks/comments/p7mgt2/anyone_else_finding_that_plagiarism_in_the_indie/... I also finally read "The high horse bastard" which you guys were raving about and... I'm not the biggest fan. It did leave me wanting more for sure, but aside from the story itself leaving a few gaps to fill, I found these devvy descriptions too detailed, I was struggling to visualise the technicalities instead of enjoying them... but maybe that's because I'm a fast reader so I might revisit them later with more focus. I also wish there were more descriptions of e.g. how the character walks. But nonetheless it had a few little things that sparked my imagination so I understand why it was highly praised on here, I hope the author produces more content like this (I think she had a website with short stories which is gone, and her other books don't seem so much up my alley).
Whoa, that's crazy about the plagiarism! Yet another reason I've decided to read a lot less romance lately.
You're not the only one who is critical of High Horse Bastard. I found it a huge disappointment. It's a good start that goes nowhere. The dude with CP goes on and on about how much accommodation he needs, how the girl needs to accept all these things about him, but in the end he just needs a few carefully positioned pillows while they have sex. And despite saying in a self-referential moment that she wants to write a romance novel that doesn't flinch about disability, the sex scenes are all fade to black. She totally flinched.
You can find the author's Twitter from her Goodreads page but she doesn't mention publishing more. Maybe she'll get back to it later? I know how it is, life takes over and it can be hard to find time to write.
Anyway I just discovered a wonderful new historical mystery series set it Wales in the 1850s with blind guy main character, it's the Teifi Valley Coroner series by Alis Hawkins. It's refreshing for me to read something that's not romance, and the writing is really good, not cliched.
Yeah romance gets really repetitive and it's hard to find exactly what I want in terms of devness so maybe I should look at other genres. This actually sounds really interesting! I used to live in Wales for a bit although I never explored much, so I think I'll add it to my list.

This isn’t a new book but a request about the name of a book that I read a while ago and forgotten the title. Isn’t wasn’t that good but…. The guy was a wounded soldier and the fc was living next door and conveniently enough was a nurse. He spent a while sitting at his window listening to her singing. He suffered from PTSD. She was divorced I think and had moved back with her parents. Just fancy reading it again.
It is annoying me like a tune in you mind that you can not remember what song it was ……
Thank you everyone 😀
Edit:

Just finished Savage Collision by Gwyn McNamee. Stumbled across it after reading a post I think from ruthmadison explaining she didn’t like it due to the graphic and detailed sex scenes (paraphrasing as can’t find the original post, apologies!) Anyway, I thought it sounded right up my street 😂 and it was! If there’s any other books you don’t like for a similar reason - please PLEASE let me know. I’ve been hunting for some new stuff for a while and just feel like I’ve read everything!

mwin If this is just "regular" erotica, I feel there are so many out there. Two authors that just came to my mind and have some books out are Harley LaRoux or MJ Marino. I haven't read any of their books but apparently, they are pretty steamy. It's not with any disabled characters though. I feel there are so many different romance/erotica stories out there, bikers, rockstars, athletes, anything. There is this website where you can find all kinds of erotica and romance. Here is the link if it works: www.romance.io/Good luck!

It's not clear from the description.

I’ve enjoyed all sorts - especially heroes with cerebral palsy or scars or speech impediments as well as the more ‘available’ para/quad/amputee hero. Any suggestions so very welcome x

mwin I still also like "Equal Opportunities" by Mathilde Madden. It's really the only book I enjoyed as far as a disabled character in it. It's kinky and has sex in it. The sentence in it "I have a thing for boys who can't walk" stayed with me throughout my dev journey. It's sorta my mantra and the author definitely hit the nail on the head there. I don't enjoy reading mainstream or clean romance, I read other genre and with that I rarely seek out a book with disabled characters which is weird because I love writing devotee romance/erotica. I may have to try that book you mentioned above because I would enjoy some good sex scenes in a book.

Love Mary Balogh books. Thanks Dani, interesting. Never have read these 2 books she mentions cause they are geared to female pwd’s but have loved a couple of her series with disabled men, especially The Survivors Club series

Here is a link to a site that used to review all types of non-mainstream romance books I guess. It seems that the site is not active anymore but there are a bunch of books on there if anyone is interested loveinthemargins.com/tag/disability/

An alien? or is that part cyborg thing supposed to be some kind of disability? Er, yeah. An alien. I forgot not everyone loves sci Fi & fantasy as much as I do. 😂 The male main character is a large blue alien with horns and a tail, but other than that he's humanoid enough to be relatable. He is a veteran of some terrible war his species was involved in.
