Protip: If you're a c6-7 quad, you're a c7, not a c6.
If you're a c5-6, you're a c6, not c5.
If you have triceps you're a c7.
If you have no wrist extension, you're a c5. If you do, you're a c6.
This has no place in this thread but I get enraged when people don't state their TRUE neurological function.

Don't mind him, guys, the kid's got issues (he may be right, but still....issues). fallinginreverse, Mr. Smarty McSmartypants, explain your logic to us so we pitiful mortals may better understand. Because, in my mind, why would it be labelled incorrectly for the entire world? And what is the point of a double number, anyway? So, why say c5-6, why wouldn't everyone just say c6? What if the lesion is found between the vertebrae? Then the dash would make sense. Wouldn't a single number indicate that the fracture/lesion occurred on that particular vertebrae? EXPLAIN. You and your preoccupation with triceps. LOL <3 *smooches*.

I've always liked this site: www.spinalhub.com.au/what-is-a-spinal-cord-injury/how-do-i-move/incomplete-versus-complete-sci-what-am-iSpecifically: "In some cases, the level of bone injury can be different to the level of spinal cord injury. For example you may have broken the C5 vertebra, but your spinal cord injury may be C6." So FIR is right regarding function. Whatever function someone has is determined by where the spinal cord is damaged. BUT, most docs, and subsequently patients, also reference the bone injury. If it's the same, then one number. If not, then two. Some SCI have no bone involvement, like some tumors or medical misadventures. Those also have just one number. Congenital disorders are sometimes difficult to diagnose exactly where the lesion is. Guys from before the 80's born with closed spina bifida, for example, may never have had mri's or other tests to determine exactly where the lesion is. Anyway. My 2 cents.

Thank you lucretia that makes perfect sense, and thanks for the link. I'll have to check it out asap. Alas, I have to go to bed at 6am for my nightshift tonight (Booooo). fallinginreverse see?
