Hey Nicole, I am a little late to the party but welcome from me as well. Not Canadian but German , uprooted and living in the US. How did you find PD? I bet it can be difficult to work with PWD and be a dev...

Welcome from Texas where it's flat and summer for 80% of the year. It's 102 (39C in Canadian) today. And I wheel to work.

Dry heat is still hot as hell.... like being blasted in the face with hot air... i can't compare never having spent time in a humid climate that hot which i imagine isn't any fun either but... 102 in dry heat is still plenty hot and not nearly as pleasurable as 82 is lol so says another desert rat!

Yahhh Harm, this is something people say down here in Florida almost every time when someone says, "Oh, it's 105 in Vegas!" The reply is always,"But that's dry heat." Then I usually say, "Your microwave is dry, too, but I don't wanna live in there."

That must be a big change moving all that way how long have you been in the US? And it's probably more difficult when I get home from work because all day I'm ignoring that dev side and then I'm home trying to remind myself that it's okay to be into what I'm into, if that makes sense. And no worries I was just reading one day and clicked through to here, then it was a matter of convincing myself to join haha

You Americans and your crazy Fahrenheit haha I appreciate the translation cooks and thanks so much for the welcome! Not sure how you manage that trip to work, I only like the heat when I'm next to a pool or the ocean! To be fair I'd choose being hot over being cold any day but that's Canadian cold I'm talking about of course

All you want is a little moisture!!! My best friend was in Vegas a year ago and he said "Holy cow there's this thing called the sun, I've never felt it burn so hot"

Welcome aboard from the Colorado side of the Rockies. Bouncing around like a dev puppy is not only allowed, but encouraged Seriously, though this has been an affirming and welcoming place, so I know you'll find your groove here

So the C in temperature readings stands for Canada, not Celsius, right? That's correct braced4impact. It's a common misconception!

So that makes it about 82 F? 102F, and it's no fun dry or wet when it stays that way for literally 100 days in a row

Hey guys, I just wanted to make a post introducing myself. I'm eager to join in on some of the awesome threads on here so I thought I should say 'hi' first so you aren't wondering who this random newbie is! You can call me K or Nicole, either one works. I'm in my mid-twenties and from Canada. I'm right near the Rocky Mountains which is perfect because I snowboard and I swear it seems like our year is 80% winter sometimes.. I love swimming, reading, and writing; I can be outgoing and I'm pretty chatty in general, but I'm an introvert so sometimes I'm shyer than others and I love just doing my own thing. I stumbled over here from the Stories blog and worked up the nerve to join. I'm open to anybody and everybody I could meet on here; this seems like such a good community. I'm especially looking for dev friends, but I'd love to get to know everyone else too! I'm definitely not new to my 'devvy' feelings, they're just not something I've let myself put much thought into. I've been conscious of not indulging in those thoughts or feelings because I've always been concerned about making PWD (is that right? I'm trying to pick up the lingo around here..) uncomfortable or unintentionally making them feel objectified. I work with pwd because I'm a legal assistant at a personal injury law firm, so I'm so focused on only being professional that it's always a switch to let myself think devvy thoughts freely. It's both exciting and nerve wracking to be here, where devs are clearly being understood and even embraced for their...devvness...devvyness...devoteeism?? I don't know lol I have about a million questions for devs and pwd alike so I'm excited to join in and maybe even make a thread or two of my own. Thanks to everyone who has already been so welcoming and I'm thrilled every time I get a message, so please never hesitate to say hi! ** K Welcome to PD Nicole. I'm very new to PD too but already fascinated and almost hooked on the help of so many warm hearted people. I've hidden behind my disability for so many years for the fear of rejection...no longer! I have never been so open about my disability but now I'm the complete opposite, thanks to devs. Have fun on here x
