Thanks! Did you enjoy it?
If anyone who has read the book and enjoyed it could give it a positive review, I would appreciate it. Especially since I just got a 1-Star review from someone who admitted they didn’t read the book but said it made them “vomit in their mouth.” So it would be lovely to have the support of the people who really did read it.

That person is clearly unhinged. I’m sorry Annabelle, you don’t deserve that.

That person is clearly unhinged. I’m sorry Annabelle, you don’t deserve that. I agree. Aside from the fact the person didn't even read the book, the entire statement is abusive. Authors work SO hard on books. I know this from experience and I know the heart and care that Annabelle puts into her books. It's one thing if you don't like it. Taste is subjective, but there is no reason to be cruel. People can be such trolls. I loved this book and under my Goodreads it's listed as one of my favorites because it TRULY is. It's a book you can be proud of annabelle we all love you and have your back.

In addition to the idiotic "didn't read the book" review, there's a 2 star review by someone who apparently has never been around a child. I wish I could be a fly on the wall should that person ever reproduce. lol
I left a review.

I have to figure out how to leave a review - the account is under my husband's name. It's bad enough he gets suggestions... all based on what I am reading - LOL!!!! I'm wondering when he will figure it out !

Yeah, on GR, a bunch of people reviewed it badly because of the kid being too "bratty." Considering Lily is based on a real child who I love very much, I thought she was a pretty genuine kid. Someone angrily DNF because the kid was a picky eater. But even though I didn't like it, at least those reviews were genuine. That one-star felt like someone who was trolling me.

Eh, they're all just kinda dumb. Lily did seem pretty realistic to me. At least according to the kids in my family who are always, somehow, going to do for someone else what they won't do at home. So, I found Lily's responses to be both realistic, entertaining and exasperating. lol And I read a ton of fiction that do a crap job of writing children.... like the one year old who's speaking plainly and in complete sentences, etc.
Like, Mom: She only eats chicken nuggets. Friend's mom the next day: She absolutely ADORED the raw oysters.
Mom: He only wears 3 shades of blue and will fake a seizure if you try to put another color on him. Grandparent (likely the in-law grandparent): We bought him an entirely new wardrobe in rainbow because he BEGGED! And he said you'd only ever let him wear blue.
So on and so forth. We've laughed about that kind of thing a lot in my family. And had picky eaters. Kids are crazy.

Just chalk it up to being a mainstream author; the haters mean you're reaching a wide audience. Were they always 4 and 5 stars I'd feel like it was just friends reviewing the books, so it looks more realistic. Sorry it happened though, it's always a blow to the ego

I wish I could be a fly on the wall should that person ever reproduce. lol This was pretty much my thought. As a mom of four kids that has raised TWO to almost adulthood I saw nothing unusual or off about Lily's behavior. If I have learned ONE thing in my nearly twenty years of parenthood is that PARENTS are typically the ones who are the WORST. It's typically the moms and dad's that only have one kid, and haven't yet gone through the trenches of adolescence. Oh their precious little snowflakes can do no wrong and they would never allow this or that... (bleh) Talk to me again after you go through middle school with your perfect little angel. My favorite instagram account is called "Sometimeskidsaredicks" because ya know what? They are, and Lily wasn't even CLOSE to being terrible.

I'm wondering when he will figure it out ! My husband and I share an Amazon account, but he knows who I am and what I read and write, so it's not a big deal. I DID change the name that reviews get posted under to just review under initials (just because I don't like leaving a full name). You CAN always leave reviews for authors on Goodreads, that does help, but not near as much as the Amazon ones do. Those effect the rankings of your book. More reviews=more exposure. That's why we are such squeaky wheels begging for the reviews because they help indie authors SO much.

Thanks tori - I am going to look into using initials etc. He would die if the review came up in his name LOL ! It's bad enough he gets "recommendations" sent to him !!!
