Devs, if you are attracted to wheelchair users, does the style of wheelchair matter to you? I have a friend who once dated a guy who seemed more interested in her wheelchair than anything else. I have never met a Devotee like that.

I would say to me it matters like generally outward appearance matters. If the guy was in a bright pink chair or had some weird motive spoke protectors, this would definitely be a turn-off. Also, a clumsy hospital chair (the one they seem to use in so many movies for some reason...) would not really be attractive for me...

Yes, we notice, and for a lot of us wheelchair style matters, about the same as clothing or personal style matters. But it's rude to focus only on that, just as it's rude to only notice what someone is wearing. After I had been around more SCI guys I started noticing w/c style and fit. It's amazing how many people roll around in chairs that don't fit them properly, causing bad posture. Also paras should have as low a backrest as possible relative to the level of injury, and no push handles or arm rests.

For me the fit of a chair is the important thing, I like to see a guy who is at one with his chair rather than just sitting in it, if that makes sense.

robb that makes so much sense to me as a Crip. I would hate to be in a WC that was to big for me like the ones people have mentioned that they have in hospitals.

Isn’t that a personal preference? I don’t personally use armrests as they add weight to the chair and make it harder to get in and out of the car, but I know other paras that find them helpful for weight shifts. Also I do have fold down push handles as I still require help going up and down stairs, and I hang my backpack from them. Being still relatively new I’ll probably lose the push handles in a few years. Is this personal aesthetic?

For me,a well designed, hi tech wheelchair is essential – it gives me a comfortable feeling. Even the small details can be important, e.g. Radial spokes instead of crossed spokes, aluminum front wheels instead of plastic rims, black tires and handrims ...
Am I weird? I don't think so. Keeping my pride.
Addition: my current girlfriend also takes care of such. So I'm happy when she comes up with some new ideas, even when they sound crazy in the first moment – such support is good because she always has an outside view of me.

Agree with these comments. The wheelchair itself isnt a turn on....but its capable of being a turn off.

Almost any other chair is attractive to me besides the hospital ones. A little color is nice. Personally I prefer them without the arm rests and a lower back. Those are really cool.

The fit is far more important than type of chair.
I had a friend who was quite short but didn't want to be so low to the ground.... So he bought this ridiculously too high wheelchair off eBay. Yeah, he was higher... But his center of gravity was WAAYY off.
Another guy I knew was way too tall/long for his chair and couldn't figure why curb hops were so difficult for him.
Guys.... Get fitted!! And then get the fit double-checked after the chair is delivered.
Also, don't be assholes when someone asks you about it.
As for push handles, eh. I'm not a fan just because people will be more tempted to grab them.
Also, cleanliness and upkeep matter. Duct tape? No. Dirt and hair wound up in spokes or castors? Nope. Unidentified crap splashed/smudged on rims/bars... Well, I've found actual crap... So that's a big hell no.
And please, please change and wash your cushion covers frequently. Probably more frequently than you think you need to. See above... *shudder*
Ok. Rant over.
As long as the chair fits well and is clean, the style matters little. Unless it's a hospital chair (gross) or a sweet sports chair (swoon).

I see this guy every few weeks or so who's cute and sweet. I've seen him probably 50 times or more at work... And I couldn't tell you what kind of chair he has. It fits him well and is clean and I'm pretty sure it's all black. All I see is the guy.
