Yes but I don’t pay, sod em! I will chat to them for awhile to see if they are genuine, and give them an email address, and see what happens. You can always change your email address mate. I honestly think the best way to meet somebody is in the street, park etc, either that or just say single. I think that is what I’m just going to stop like, stop trying to force the issue, like Ben in Lost. Love that show.

There have been a few threads on this subject over the years, with a mixed bag of responses.
On the negative side - A lot of the sites are linked, which I don’t like. I think they mislead members about who can see their profiles; use fake profiles; exploit members who have learning difficulties; rip members off by charging exhorbitant fees and generate fake messages.
On the plus side, I had good results from being a member on those sites. I met my boyfriend on one. I think you have to be healthily cynical about people’s profiles and at the same time be honest on your own. Try and show a bit of your personality and put up a decent profile picture. Don’t be monosyllabic. Don’t expect miracles overnight - and expect to end up dating someone who doesn’t live around the corner if you do find someone.
Online dating is not for everyone, but it can work. Regard it as an option, as opposed to your only option, keep an open mind and see what happens...

Every once in a while I feel the need to become a member on a dating site or app. I bet you have heard of tinder and other stuff like that. But in the end, I happen to stay there for about 48 hours after I decide to delete my profile again because I discover it's trash and just a whole lot of fake profiles. So afterwards, my decision is always to "let real life happen".

Has any wheelers tried Tinder before? So far so good with this website. I'm getting ready to put up my profile and meet some devotees in Seattle!

johnjay206This is not a dating site. Please take some time to read the threads and you will get a better feel for what it is about.

The reason I don’t use disabled dating sites is that many of them use the same database! They all put up their own web fronts, but buy access to the same database of members. Over the years Match has been ok.

If I ever found a legit one I would certainly try it, but as mentioned above, most of these sites are linked to each other and the messages or likes are from bots. You pay the monthly fee excited for multiple interactions and it goes back to expensive abrupt silence.
Regular dating sites are the absolute worst. Unless you’re an AB then it’s pick of the litter.

I haven't tried any disability centered dating sites, and would check them out as long as I wouldn't have to pay for them. As for main stream sites, my rezults were mixed. On tinder, I had a few dates, but nothing serious came out of them. On ok cupid I got to know my ex girlfriend. It allows for more text on profiles , which is better from a blindness perspective obviously. You can also define the range of your matches, so you can decide whether you want philippino people, mostly genuine but searching for a better life, will message you. In the anglo-saxon world, I also heard a few good things about POF, as it has voice messaging, heaven for a blind dater. Another app which seems promising for me lately is Tantan, the Chinese version of tinder. Matches are mostly Asian, sometimes far away , but also there you can voice message and the community seems relatively open.In general, I do recomment to be open about your disability on those sites, especially if it's visible. As for myself, I used some ambiguous pictures so every conversation could have a fair start, but I always told them, when it got more fluid and engaging. Mostly though, I recomment not to give up, as platitudic as that may sound. Without online dating , I'd never have met my ex girlfriend who was sighted. Before that I didn't think any sighted girl from around here would come my way.EuInI
