Burgers and corn grilled over lump charcoal and dried coffee grounds. If we get any sun through the clouds I'd like to boil some broccoli and cauliflower with garlic sauce in the solar oven. Looks I'll be grilling in a bit of rain instead. Sounds really good. How much sun is required to use the solar oven? Also what a great idea for flavor with the coffee grounds.

So, we are going camping and I premarinated the chicken and steak, then stuck it in the freezer so that it helps keep the cooler cold, and the marinade (lots of mustard and vinegar- pickle juice) to keep it from going bad a bit longer.
How do u prep your meat before camping? I am always looking for ideas.
On a side note, we have electricity and a small fridge once we get to our camping site, but it is tiny.

I will have "Schinkennudeln" tonight. That's leftover plain pasta, bacon, onions and eggs heated up in the same pan. For that additional flavor, best goes some granted cheese over it.
This food actually would also fit really well in the "lazy food thread" being one of these guilty pleasures.

It is chanterelle season here now, so tonight I will make crepes from spelt and buckwheat flour, filled with sauteed chanterelles and other mushrooms with parsley and cream sauce. Tomato salad beforehand and blackberry and blueberry tart for afterwards.

I just made these Oatmeal Raisin vegan cookies and they are delicious!!! No dairy, sugar or flour - I know, I know, doesn't sound that good but they are so yummy!! I have to tag myrrh in this post for giving me the inspiration to try something new and vegan. The sweetness in the cookies comes from the smashed bananas!! Here's to trying to go sugar free and trying new things!

Ontario is under restrictions while Omicron is ripping through the country, shutting down tennis courts along with my soul. But now I have more time to dabble in the culinary arts. Did a Shakshuka that tasted fantastico ...

I'm surprised that this thread has been silent for such a long time. I love to cook and I recently bought a rice cooker. I don't know whether this is a thing in the US, in Germany it's not a very common device to have. Anyway, it's an "intelligent" cooker and you can not only cook rice (or other stuff) but also bake cakes with it. At first I was sceptical, but I already tried two different cake recipes with it (brownies and an apple cake) and they turned out not only delicious, but also so cute, because they are only as big (or small) as the size of the bowl in the rice cooker. I can't begin to describe how my heart melts when I have this little cake in my hands ;-). I didn't get any good pictures, but I'll try next time (my next project is a banana bread-like cake) and will show you guys. Btw, Sova, this dish looks very delicious and also quite professional!

lisa love it. I've been thinking of reviving this thread, too. Send pictures of tiny cakes! There is something so charming about miniature food. A couple friends of mine were leaving town for different reasons, so I made each one of them a tiny goodbye cake using a washed out tin can (here you can buy a 2 pound can of pumpkin puree in a large can, it's the perfect size for a little cake.)

Let me know when you do a cremeschnitte so I can go over there and put a ring on your finger

I could be convinced to make this kind of cake. Not so much to take the ring though. This girl needs to run free ;-).
