Hey everyone, I'd like to apologize to the wonderful, interesting, respectful and lovely people who had been interacting with me for the unexplained and abrupt deletion of my account. I most likely have congenital frightened squirrel syndrome compounded by an introverted/shy personality. Too much attention, too new a concept, too many body image issues, too much for me. Please understand that nobody did anything to upset or offend me, this was a me thing. Everyone here has been so great! Zack

I'll have you know that plenty of people live independent, fulfilled lives with frightened squirrel syndrome. Just the other day, a Vice documentary about it popped up in my YouTube recommended vids, but I didn't watch because it seemed like inspiration porn. Personally i live a happy life with Frightened Squirrel Syndrome....but maybe im just nuts !

So glad to hear I'm not alone. Perhaps we should start a group for FSS...

Can somebody please explain Frightened Squirrel Syndrome? I've never heard that and the well-known search engine wasn't much of a help.

feelsunshine, you are so cute! If I‘m not totally wrong here, it’s just what it says. Being afraid of squirrels... ;-)

Frightened Squirrel Syndrome : A desperate need when faced with stressful situations to fill yourself with food and hide in the nearest tree. If you look closely, in most city parks you may see sufferers in the lower branches of said trees. Failing that, may also be seen perched on the modern equivalent....a wooden bar stool 😂😂

You ever drive and see a squirrel in the road and it doesn't know what to do so it runs in circles until finally taking off in a random direction, tail twitching, and hopefully escaping the oncoming traffic?
I think it's like that. But humans.

The phrase “frightened squirrel” doesn’t convince me, in London squirrels are fearless, terrifying fancy-tailed rats that climb on people’s legs and scratch/bite if you don’t feed them enough... but maybe I’m biased (and traumatised by a squirrel attack). It’s like saying “silly goose”: geese aren’t silly, they’re deadly... Also welcome back and don’t worry, we’re all anxious wrecks at one point or another
