Good evening everyone (it's evening in Germany!!),
I am thinking of going on a roadtrip in the US at the mid/end of August. Starting in Charlotte, North Carolina, ending up in New Orleans, Louisiana. In the next 1-2 weeks I'll be working on a rough schedule where to stop and which places to see. If anyone who lives in that "triangle" - Florida included, is up for having a coffee, beer or whatever beverage comes to your mind, please do not hesitate to drop me a message with roughly the area where you live in, so that I can take the area into consideration. This goes of course for both PWDs and devs!!
In addition to that, I'd love to hear from people who know or live in the states of South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, maybe even Tennessee (as I haven't planned the route yet) if there's something I HAVE to see. Special places, parks, landscapes, cities, ... I am getting a traveler guide as well, but I am more interested in the special stuff, not too touristy, but way better. You know, the insider stuff.
One last question.... can someone suggest a good provider for pre-paid phone cards with lots of data volume? I am thinking of taking my German cell phone with me to keep whatsapp and all the other data-stuff running ... PLUS an additional cell phone that is supposed to hold that US data phone card. The additional cell phone shall then be used to open up a wifi hotspot for my real cell phone? Anyone who understood what I mean?? Suggestions?
Thanks a lot in advance!

That sounds like an amazing roadtrip! My first thought was the weather... are you prepared for how hot and humid it can be?
If I could travel to Louisiana again, I would really have liked to spend more time in the Bayou. It was so pretty!.. even in the heat.
In New Orleans, do the graveyard tour! Dont skip it! The ghost tour was..ok...but the graveyard tour was the best.

raindrop Yeah, I am aware about the weather. I have spent several summers in Charlotte and I imagine the more south I go, the worse it will be. Honestly I am more respectful about the hurricanes as this is their season as well. Thanks for the tips, I’ll definitely look into that.

That sounds like a wonderful trip. I live in Louisiana but not in New Orleans. I would love to meet up there but I've never driven in New Orleans, it would be scary. Also, I would have to make up some story to tell my husband. He does not know about PD. He would think it really strange I was going to meet someone in New Orleans, I never travel alone. But it sounds like you will have a great time. Keep us up to date!

If you meet, we wanna hear how it went!!😎

I live in VA but travel often. My favorite southeast city is Charleston SC. Charming, beautiful, interesting and amazing food.

First off I'm surprised to see some people from La, pam I'd love to know where you live...my husband is from La I have lived in NC and LA, in LA I would also suggest to get outside of New Orleans and see the inside of the state, Bayous for sure and plantation homes. I enjoyed the Tour on Avery Island where Tabasco sauce comes from. Of course the food...and Mint Julep From NC I remember Asheville was nice and also New Bern and Wilmington.

I LOVE New Orleans- well, the French Quarter for sure! If I won the lottery, I would buy a historical home there and spend some wonderful times exploring. The hospitality, the people, the food, the architecture, the history, the antiques and the visual is so stimulating for me!!! I loved visiting the bayous and having experiences with the animals that call it home.
Keep us updated - wouldn't mind traveling there for a meet up!!!

The bayou are pretty. I have gone on a swamp tour once with my kids school. I believe I visited Avery Island once and I have been to plantation homes around New Iberia, La. Of course, the French Quarter is popular with people in New Orleans. Someone mentioned a cemetery or ghost tour, that's sounds fun. Let us know what your plans are.

But guess what I saw? An installation of a machine in a doctors office. That's all I've seen except for a dinner at some place that had awesome crab cakes. Wish I could find that place again LOL.
