Hey devs... I liked the wheelchair post and it made me think, "do prosthetics matter? So for any of you who are amputee devs out there, are prothetics a factor? Do you prefer an amputee wearing prosthetics or not? If an amputee is wearing prothetics does the type/style matter? (I've got a few to choose from) Arms? Legs? Both? Wheelchair? Crutches? (I've done all of the aforementioned) Im totally curious and invested in your answers, I'm can put myself together in sooooo many different ways. What's the best (in your opinion?)

Bear in mind amputees are a secondary dev attraction (sorry Zack!) for me. And then only leg amps.
For me always prosthetics unless they can't be used then either crutches or wheelchair as needed.
Prosthetics can either be sleek, funky, sporty or industrial looking. I like to see the workings though, not the moulded type or with a cosmesis. Crutches need to be metal forearm, not the wooden underarm type.
Oh, and I really dislike osseointegration.
God I'm fussy!

Have to say amps and paras are an equal attraction for me, but as for the type of prosthetics, crutches etc, I agree with him.

I prefer amputees without prosthetics. However with prosthetics is fine as long as they don't want to wear them to bed.

I've never worn them to bed, can't imaginie how uncomfortable that would be. Usually dying to take them off when I get home. (correction I have worn them to bed... but that was by request.... đ)

As a dev who is only really interested in amputees you would think I have a strong opinion about prosthetics but, I donât. I prefer the look of a guy without prosthetics but also know they are helpful and necessary and would never seriously question anyoneâs decision to use or not use them. Sure there are cooler looking ones but I donât have any really specific preferences. Like Gaydev said, as long as they come off at the end of the day the details donât matter.

I basically agree with all of this except I'm pretty equal on the prosthetics, wheelchair or crutches. The guy would be attractive in all 3đ

Even though Iâm primarily an amp dev I never really thought about my preference in terms of prosthetics... letâs see Arms: prefer none, but hooks can be cool. Purely cosmetic hands are kinda pointless to me (but I wouldnât judge someone for wanting to wear one, mine is a dev point of view). High tech hands are interesting in a non dev fashion to me because theyâre so damn cyberpunk Legs: below the knee prosthetics are f***ing cool! Especially if they are high tech or customised. I donât really care for cosmetic ones, I honestly prefer if they look more artificial, if that makes any sense... I donât really have an opinion on crutches, they do nothing for me but hey, if they are a necessity... Bilateral above knee amps to me look cooler in a sporty wheelchair not to mention it probably allows more freedom of movement than prosthetics in most cases. But in the end I donât really care and the attractiveness factor resides in other things: personality, looks, how one presents himself, sense of humor and so on

Eep I was a costume designer in a past life so... I personally prefer natural fibers (as long as you can commit to steaming because... wrinkles) in light colors. Then, if possible, shop from sustainable brands (do it for mama earth!).

And yes, pile of prosthetics at the end of the bed... Going pee at night sucks. Hahahaha.

My below knee legs look I stole them from a robot, black tubes and chrome fittings. My arm is a super cool shiny black carbon fibre with a blue rubber hand and an iPhone app to dial it in. I'm totally cyber punk!!
