A great and cool intro! I've thought that qualifying for scuba diving would be fun, and adaptive rock climbing would be interesting to try, I've wondered how it would work out! Throwing some hoops in the summer can be a fun way to get to know the people in the neighbourhood as well, as I discovered last summer. Peeps from Bay Area - get busy! This right here will be fun one to hang around with! Getting active outside in cool company, it's fun as hell, so I highly encourage people to try out. Welcome to PD and all that shit, if I'm not completely wrong, we've got quite a few from your part of the world

A very warm welcome quietriot! I love the mountains and have done a little bit of climbing myself, though mostly bouldering indoors and only a tiny bit of fixed rope climbing outside. I completely get the appeal of climbing outside, though, and have wanted to do a little more of it I also discovered Paraclimbing (which I assume is the same as adaptive climbing?) this past summer through the Paraclimbing World Championship and it's one of the coolest sports I've ever watched! Very cool that you're doing it! I hope you enjoy your time on PD!

Hiya everyone! lars, climbing is a really fun way to get active! Seated climbers use a pulley system that's adjusted based on how much weight they want to pull up (1/3, 1/2, all body weight). Basketball is great in the summer when my local team scrimmages. Less fun when they drill, LOL. Amee Paraclimbing is the same thing! I've contemplated participating in some comps, but climb way more outside than inside so feel pretty out of sync with the gym culture. I guess I'd be in the RP: Limited Range, Mobility, Strength category. I mostly sport and trad climb, bouldering is terrible on my braces. Nice to meet you all!

A great and cool intro! I've thought that qualifying for scuba diving would be fun, Dude, you need to come to Oz and dive on the Great Barrier Reef. Or maybe some cage diving with Great Whites!

@wonk I’d love to dive the gbr! Mostly dive locally in Monterey, so great whites are everywhere, we just don’t usually see them due to the low visibility. I did see one about three months ago though! My rule is I’ll dive as long as I can see at least 1 shark length away

I think climbing is not so much about competing with others than it is about scaling the mountain or wall and thereby overcoming yourself and your fears. I think it's a fascinating way to see what you and your body and mind can do in a very real and personal way. It's quite pure in that sense I think it's also not a coincidence that the climbing culture is a bit of a hippie culture. There's actually a bit of condescension towards competitions going on among some serious outdoors climbers, I've been told
