I’m a mixture of French, Welsh and Scottish with huge amounts of folk lore and history in all three. It makes us feel very connected to wild weather and wild lives, I would love to go back to the times where people were far more intuitive and involved history in their everyday life choices. But probably wouldn’t like life where they burnt witches, died young and lived hard lives......so in hindsight maybe I don’t actually want to go back 🤔

Hmmm 80's were hard rocking and fast motor biking but ended up with a crash and sci so not then.
90's too many raves, too many drugs (dont do drugs kids) ended with a failed marriage so strike that decade
2000's next 2 decades work work work kids kids kids. Forgot who I am so not then
So that leaves me with now, I kinda like where I am now in life and after surviving sci, drugs, divorce and raising kids I'll be damned if a virus named after a light beer is going to ruin everything just when I'm hitting my sweet spot.

I'll take sometime in the future when my disability is cured. I have a great family, my wife has a fantastic butt, and I have money, but it still seriously sucks to be disabled.

I would choose the 90's. people weren't as bat shit crazy or as racist then. I think right now is the worst time in America since the 30's. I find myself wishing it was a different time a lot. I can't imagine myself looking back on these times and thinking of them fondly, but maybe I will. Ask me again in 20 yrs.

I’m pretty happy with where I landed. Got to appreciate 70’s fashion and music through parents and friends’ older siblings. It may not have been the happiest time in my life, but I fully rocked the 80’s as a teen... the big hair, the music, the stilettos... ha ha. 90’s had grunge for music and it was a reasonably prosperous time to enter the workforce. I was young enough on the ‘00s to fully dive into and embrace technology/internet as it evolved while being old enough to grow up in it’s absence and know how to function without it. I was hoping I’d live out my later years in the nick of time before the world collapsed, but that’s looking like my timing is a bit off on that. *facepalm*
I have interests in other eras but the lack of modern conveniences and limited/non-existent rights for women etc. prevent me from wishing I had lived back then.

So, if I have to keep my geographical origins, I'll stay where I am. Society is fucked up, but has been so in the past, too, and tech is just a huge advantage, especially for a PWD. But putting that aside, I would like to check out Ancient Egypt or Greece. Also fin de siècle France would be nice. And maybe Angkor around 1000 AD or the Aztecs another 500 years later. It's hard to think about why though and I'm not sure if any of these would actually "fit me better", but they seem to be appropriate choices for me Also, what about you, alexp88 ? I like your question and I wonder what your personal thoughts and feelings are towards it.

I’m not a nostalgic person. We tend to look at the past with rose tinted glasses and pick out the good bits, forgetting the rest. The only time we really have is the here and now and what lies ahead of us.
That being said, I have a weird fascination with the Vietnam War, which makes no sense as I’m English and have no connection to it. Perhaps I was there and I’m now reincarnated as the current me? That’s no doubt utter bollocks, but who knows? That’s the only time in history I think about with any kind of regularity.
But would I want to be this age back then? Hell no! The Internet was the way I found out that I was a dev and got to finally live out the life that felt right for me - having a relationship with a para guy. So what other era would I choose to be in but now. This just wouldn’t have happened in the 1970’s. Plus, being entirely shallow, but because I’m a an artistic type, the wheelchairs looked shit back then.

Before SCI, I was a grad student in history so like many of you, I'm grateful to live in the present. In bygone eras, paralysis would have put me in the appetizer section of the cave lion menu. And while 80s music > that of most other eras IMO, even then the treatment options were quite limited. Sociopolitical landscape aside, now is probably the best time to live with SCI. If SCI were no object, I'd be happy to check out the bronze age Mediterranean (and probably die in a stupid war by age 15). I'll take sometime in the future when my disability is cured. Hear hear! This sounds like a great idea.
