Congrats! So are those things around your neck decorations, or do they signify some sort of academic achievement? They definitely signify achievements. I was in a handful of academic honor societies, and for each one you get pins/tassels/sashes/etc. I graduated with a major in International Relations and a double minor in Russian and Psychology. And to toot my own horn (because I worked so hard for it), I came out with a GPA of 3.86.

Way to go, Chan. Good work. I'm on the tail-end of my educational gantlet myself...what's next?

Way to go, Chan. Good work. I'm on the tail-end of my educational gantlet myself...what's next? Well, everyone but me seems to be continuing their education for a couple more years for a higher degree, but since I got a job offer in executive leadership for a major retail corporation, I'm going to go ahead and accept considering the state of the economy and how hard it is to come by a decent job these days. I'm still pursuing an interview process for a government job at the moment, though, so we'll see what happens. I definitely don't want to spend the rest of my life in retail....

I hear ya' - I'd take the secure job offer as well, a good resume builder too, even, and that'll make ya' look all the more better for the G-Men.
A life in retail is almost as horrific as a life in I.T. - I'm glad I dodged that bullet.

So... you won't be coming to make pool fence? If you'd have made me an offer to build child safety pool fences in Florida a few months back when I was freaking out because I thought I'd never ever find a job ever and would wander the streets homeless and cold and lonely because The Economy was out to get me, then yes, I totally would have come built pools. At the time I would also have doubled as a secretary for Matisse. That was when I had The Fear deep within me.

Really, I do need some people...dealt with...

GPA = Grade Point Average. The highest being 4.0, which is perfect. 3.86 is damned near close and it means you graduate with honors (they are given funky latin names like Summa Cum Laude/Magna Cum Laude). Plus, you get into the honor society of whatever your particular Major and Minor areas of study you did. It is a very nice personal acheivement.
Congrats Chan. It makes me feel very old that I flipped my Bachelors tassel in 1986 and yes, DO take whatever reasonably tolerable job you can get that will enable you to network your way to other things.

Thanks, everyone. I know I'll probably regret saying this in the very near future, but I can't wait to just stop worrying about classes and focus on a full-time job. The most exciting part is thinking (at least I hope so) about how the evenings will be MINE and wont necessarily be dedicated to five or six different subjects' worth of homework and studying for exams each night.
That's what I'm looking forward to most - this wealth of free time I've managed to convince myself I'll have.
