I'm not nearly as advanced as you. The little editing I have done has not needed anything more than what was available in the JPEG format I'm pretty sure. Maybe I would be surprised with the difference in using RAW files. I've read all kinds of stuff on forums about making the .CR2 files compatible with Adobe products but even after running three patches, never was able to open them.

WOW! I just looked out of curiosity at the difference between a .jpg and .cr2 file of the same picture of the moon. The .jpg is 4.07 MB and the .cr2 is 18.4 MB. Damn, that's a huge difference in the amount of light captured. It blows my mind how much more light these cameras can capture than the human eye. The first time I saw the RAW file compared to the JPEG I thought, "I don't see the difference" Obviously, being four times the size, there is a big difference. Good thing we have computers that can differentiate and take advantage of all that extra light. Did you ever do photography on film? I took a black and white photography class in high school and that's when I fell in love with photography, I just never pursued it.

I'm a big fan of b&w photography as well! Was that a natural light source starkly hitting the right side of your face (at left of pic from observer perspective) or did you set up a pepper?

Taking pictures in the sh*tter. Keepin' it classy. When I read this, the first thing that came to mind was Cousin Eddie in his robe, smoking a cigar and drinking a Meister Bräu. sh*tTER WAS FULL!

Beautiful photo...there's something almost shamanistic about it, and amazingly feminine, as well.
