i actually had this same thought and started a thread about it about a year ago. paradevo.proboards43.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=663&page=1#the thread got a bit derailed with opinions on AB vs. disabled actors. i think it's safe to say we'd all prefer "real", but for any number of reasons that ain't likely to happen. i'm willing to play again. and my choice is still josh holloway. mmmmm....

Another film I have been trying to remember all evening that should be seen."The Waterdance" with Helen Hunt & Eric Stoltz, but for some reason it never had the same effect on me as "Coming Home".
Not sure why, maybe because I was older when I saw that one.

Devs, PULEEEEEZ stop emailing me about reenacting the "Coming Home" scene...I'm only one man, and want to be respected as an actor- not just a piece of meat!!!
As for "Waterdance", nothing sexy in that movie, but it was pretty damn accurate about the rehab-experience. Me and some other young SCI dudes had some of the wildest times. Once a week they take us on a big ole bus with this hippie-type guy from The Simpsons driving us to a local bar, where we got as drunk as we could before going back to rehab unit. Believe me, it got funny, and some crazy shit went down!
The movie "Coming Home" is still my fav chair movie because it develops a story so well. The movie takes time to show you the building of chemistry between Jane Fonda and Jon Voight. It became a love story of a good looking nurse whose husband was off to war, and finds herself completely falling for this quick-witted manly dude in a chair. They both needed this company, and it was hard to resist. Anyway, won't give away the ending, but it was a powerful movie, disabled, or not. I have confess that I've been with a few married women in my past, and I can understand too well how that chemistry can become like a strong current pulling you together - very hard to fight once it gets started!! Actually, "Coming Home' was more about that exactly - the chair thang was secondary!

you funny, tony. a hidden bonus for the devs in coming home (and in 'the men') are all the real guys in the background. ...I've always wanted to jumpstart my budding acting career somehow (lol, that would be a disservice to Devs worldwide ) well, even so... i think we'd be willing to review your audition tape...

Not sure why, maybe because I was older when I saw that one. Oh god, I remember begging my dad to rent The Waterdance for me when I was 12 or so. We were at the Movie Gallery together, and I couldn't rent it on my own because I was too young to have a membership. He looked over the back of the movie box to see what it was about and then looked at me kind of strange. He never did rent it for me, but I'm guessing that was just because it had an R rating. I got to see it a couple years later when I was a little older and spending the night with a friend. She fell asleep at the very beginning because she thought it was boring and completely irrelevant to her interests, but I watched it twice that night.

Another suggestion: you all (devs) could start a thread containing links of interest that you've found. When you find a new one, add it to the thread. Then when a new member comes on board and bemoans their lack of being able to find stuff, you can refer them there. You could make it either out here in the open or in "devs only." You could make one in both locations if there are some of the links you'd rather us wheelers didn't see, and some that you didn't mind if we did. Anyway, just my $0.02. I like that idea actually. It would be cool to have it all in one place rather than having to laboriously comb old threads! I hate doing that. What say you?
