But I would argue that he wasn't in a position to make a rational decision. His biggest issue is that he was suffering from profound depression. I don't wish to downplay the severity of his disability, but is not the big issue here depression, not disability? Should we let everyone who's severely depressed commit suicide because it's their decision? I'd be dead twice over, having survived two such episodes, and I'm happy at the moment to be still here thank you. Don't you think that if those around him had worked very hard to get him through the other side of the depression, he would have eventually been okay? And now following this tragedy, we find that paralyzed people in Britain feel the need to justify their continued existence. Soon it will be seen as selfish to continue to live in such situations. Once started, it snowballs.

Well, it's only my opinion, but I feel like the freedom to end your life should be more available to those that just don't want to go on with their own personal torment. Most of us would be shocked at how many suicides, and attempts, take place right around us. In the rehab center after my accident, I saw quite a few that tried to kill themselves but messed it up somehow. I just think it's sad that we don't give people the easy choice. There's a movie/documentary, called, 'The Bridge. Cameras roll for on the Golden Gate Bridge for a year and document (I think) 24 suicides. I could never jump off that damn bridge, as i love my life a lot, and I'd be terrified to jump, but some people need to do this, and work very hard at getting the nerve up. Here's a link. www.thebridge-themovie.com/new/index.html

This woman is over exaggerating the consequences of this tragedy in this article .No one in this country has ever said, nor will they, that disabled people should do everyone a favour & kill themselves. Society has to understand that not everyone can cope with a disability. As much as I love suicide, gotta go back to that futbol vs football for a minute!! I appreciate both for the skills needed in both, but they're different animals completely. American football has a great variety of positions that require totally different skill sets. It's explosive, and there's nothing more beautiful than watching a perfect ass over the shoulder of a receiver, or a skilled lightening fast runningback. Soccer has it's own beauty and dynamics that, as a former athlete that played both sports, I can highly appreciate. I grew up on American football, so it's just naturally more exciting to me...college football, too. Florida vs Alabama on Dec 6th...BIG GAME, BABY!!
