Hi all,
My name is Reggie. I would like to post a personal ad but have a question first. Are Devotees only attracted to people in wheelchairs? I apologize if this is a stupid question but I've just recently heard about Devotees. I have a disability but can walk/limp with a cane. I have avoided relationships all of my life because of my disability. It's exciting to think that there may be someone out there who would like my disability. Am I barking up the wrong tree here? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Reggie

Hi Reggie, welcome And no, devs are attracted to all kinds of disabilities. In fact, many of them are attracted to Amputees/ Blind/deafs,etc. But here in this board most of them are up to wheelers or someone like YOU!! Why is it that all you disabled guys always think, that because of your disability no woman in the whole world will ever look at you? I think( as a woman) that there are far less women out there who are turned off by a disability than you think. So it's really sad, that you have avoided a relationship. And what the hell is so bad about a cane!!! I don't think that a woman who would really like you is freaked out by a cane. I for myself live with a para for 10 years now. So you see!!! Have fun here

Hi Reg. Like Doe and Helena have said, this is a board open to any man with a disability. I am also curious as to why you have let something like this stop you from ever getting romantically involved with anyone.

Hi all,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I really appreciate it.
Um, I probably should have been a little more specific... I'm gay. If I were straight I'm sure that I would not have a problem finding a woman because women are different. I find that most women look at the person more than the physical. Women flirt with me all the time. Gay men are different. They are all about appearance. I'm attractive but I feel that my disability makes guys look the other way.
I'm sure that my attitude about my disability is mostly to blame. I've been afraid to put myself out there for fear of being rejected when they finally see my disability/deformities. I've never shown anyone outside of a doctor's office. Knowing that there are people out there who can look past my disability gives me hope that one day someone will love me for me... all of me.
Thanks everyone. You've made me really happy today. ;D
Reggie

Hi Reggie,
As a gay dev I'd like to add my welcome too.
I think you are right that in the gay world the body perfect is very important but I can assure you that there are gay men, like me, who are very attracted to disabled guys.
Drop me a 'private message' if you would like to.
R.

To answer your question Helena, about why all disabled people think no woman would ever consider us, I can't speak for all gimps, but at least in my own experience...it's from experience. I ain't had a girlfriend so to speak since my junior year of high school, and I'm nearly 30 years old now. I think it goes back to "once bitten twice shy," so if bitten ten times, makes us what, 20 times shy?

Hey all,
I am still working on my personal ad but just wanted to say something to the nice people who replied to me. I have had an awesome week. Finding this site and realizing that people could find me attractive (disability and all) has made me a different person. My confidence has been at an all-time high.
I decided to push myself and started looking guys in the eye which was something I never did before. Guess what??? Some guys looked back! One guy even flirted with me. It was exhilarating! Unfortunately, he was not my type but it's a start. So, I just wanted to say thank you for this site and helping me to realize that I should not be afraid that people will reject me because of my disability. I'm on cloud nine!!! ;D
Thanks again, Reggie

U get urself out there and enjoy ur self may I ask what ur disability is? There is no chance I will ever get big headed. I am a very logical person. I realize that my post may have sounded a little too confident but I didn't intend that. Guys have looked at me this week but I have an advantage - I live in the gayest city in Canada (biggest gay community that is). They probably looked before but I was too down on myself to notice. I sincerely appreciate your concern and advice. Don't worry, I have my head on straight (pun intended). Reggie
