I thought I remember proboards removing the chat room. This is a super old thread. I don’t think it exists anymore (but certainly open to being corrected)

I love this explanation but it's not the truth. This thread was started in 2011, back when Proboards provided an integrated chat room. But as our membership is scattered around the world in many time zones, it was hard to know when people were in the chat room. So they started announcing it in this thread, to let others know when was a good time to chat. In 2013, Proboards deleted the chat room because they didn't like hosting a third party platform. This thread then changed to announcing various other platforms members were using. If anyone wants to start doing that again, hosting a chat in Discord or any other platform, go ahead, but be aware that we can't moderate in the same way as on the message board and anything shared publicly will attract pretenders. |

I have it mostly setup now (with approval from Devogirl) and just need to finish up the security.
My current thinking is to have it invite only once I verify there is a registered account here to match it to. That would help cut down a lot on spam and trolling. There will be two assigned roles Disabled and Devotee that will have access. Also with everyone that joins the server has access to a open general channel to see what the server is about and how to request access.
Open to feedback and suggestions!

Depending on the member interests there could be a bunch of sub chats/channels-- gaming, books, movies, etc
But I think you should add those at the behest of the members who end up being active on there
