I had to leave the chat before we reached a consensus for the next book club, but it seems from previous conversations that people want to read Equal Opportunities for July. That's fine with me, I just ordered my copy and it should be here any day. amzn.com/0352340703Even thought it was just published a year ago, its already gone out of print. You can buy used copies on Amazon, but there aren't many copies. There's also a Kindle version, even if you don't have the Kindle itself if you have a smartphone, you can download the app. Sorry there isn't a better way to get it online, but if anyone wants to scan it, go ahead. As for the date, Wednesday seems to be good for a lot of people. How about July 20?

Out of print that quickly? Yikes, that's scary.

It took a SUPER longtime for me to get my copy so if you planning to order a hard copy do it now. I'll start reading since I'm slow but July 20th 8pm EST works for me. I loved chatting with you all. I am always surprised at how long chat goes, I think last night was 6 hours or more!

july 20th will be tricky for me, but i can probably do it. i'll be exhausted and probably not very coherent due to no sleep and an all-night flight the night before, but you may not notice a difference. i really want to read the book but will not have a chance to do so before the 20th. there is a mail strike on currently, and then i will be away and not the kind of away that will allow me to read in private even if i could manage to get my hands on a copy! alas, i do not have a kindle or a smart phone. i'm wondering if we should maybe do another movie for this next chat and then equal opportunities for the one in august since it sounds like it may be difficult (and time consuming) for people to order? or have most people aquired it and read it already? whatever works best. totally enjoyed chatting with you awesome ladies last night, despite the crappy technology i was working with. always a fabulous time.

I was looking at this book the other day and thinking about buying it. I can't wait to read it. I am very interested in the next chat. And I hope to figure out how to get my mic working in tandem with my headphones to actually be able to chat this time!! After last night my fingers were very tired.

Got the book. Just started the first chapter... Hmmmm... Expecting some controversy on the 'likes' or 'dislikes' of this book... Not sure I will make it to the chat, but I will certainly try ;-).

And I hope to figure out how to get my mic working in tandem with my headphones to actually be able to chat this time!! After last night my fingers were very tired. But we'll see... I'm also hoping to get a better mic... and maybe more memory for my computer?? Now, for everybody. PLEASE, on your contact list in Skype you should have somebody named "Echo/Sound Test Service". You can "call" them and then you get to listen to the little message you record. Do so before the chat (or now!). Try to pay attention to the volume too (you shouldn't need to pump the volume up so much that it seems that Echo is shouting), sometimes you just need to get closer to the mic... so testing different distances before making a long call is always a good idea. When you're calling, on the lower bar (where you can hang up, mute the mic, etc.) all the way to the right there's a symbol with 5 little bars. That's the "Call Quality Information". It will tell you what's going on, and it has some settings for the mic and the speakers as well. (Right now it's telling me that "my computer is running slow" because I'm on a netbook with a crappy processor, but I used it the other night and I think it worked fine). You can find those settings in "Tools->Options" as well. If your mic is still acting up after playing with Skype settings, you might need to find your audio settings on the Control Pannel. That depends on which system you're running (but look for "realtek" if you have a laptop, it's a likely option). Or maybe it's just not working anymore and you need a new one.

I remember when Cake put up some quotes from (W)hole or another book we were all reading and it completely got me into reading the book. I just started Equal Opportunities and wow, after only 4 pages I have quotes I want to share. I read some aloud to my husband but he didn't get why I was so excited. I think you all will understand better. If I saw this guy walking down the street I'd probably look - look and lust even, - but this is far far more than that. Because well how can I put this? I have a thing. A bad thing. A perverted thing. A heart stopping lust-inducing, bad, secret, kinky thing.
A thing for boys who can't walk.I guess what I really think is that - for me - if you can explain exactly why something turns you on, pinpoint some life and lust-changing event that skewed your sexuality one way or another....then it really can't turn you on all that much, not if you can analyze it in a clear-headed way like that. It can't be getting to you in a proper, deep, right-there-in-the-bone-marrow kind of way.
Well, that's my theory.
So don't expect too much in the way of cold heard reductionism about exactly why I like boys in wheelchairs. I just do.I hope I'm not infringing on any copyright laws. Also some people may be interested in a little more info about her: mathildemadden.wordpress.com/

I'm stealing this for my answer from now on... LOL[/quote] Yeah I really liked it too. The book gets really crazy after the first 3 pages or so I'm sort of rescinding my whole-hearted recommendation.

Hmmm, from the website it looks like she's not dev, just thought it would be fun and different to write about? Unless she's, like I was, afraid to admit it. But the descriptions of her other books don't have any dev leanings to them.

I've got to settle down and find my copy. I misplaced it during a recent dash and stash.
