Thank you for starting this thread! Sorry I dropped the ball there. So it seems like most people did not get a chance to watch the film in time for the book club chat. We spent most of the time talking about other things. We will talk about this film again next month.
However, some of you have watched it already. If you want to talk about it now in this thread, please go ahead! If you give out spoilers please note it ahead of time so people who haven't watched it yet have some warning.

I just watched it. Really awesome. I loved it.
I enjoyed how much they could express with their faces. So much didn't need to be said.

I love it, too. I keep thinking that I'll come write about it and then can't seem to articulate. Bleh. lol *spoilers I'm with Ruth. I loved how expressive they were. I enjoyed the fact that so many of the secondary characters seemed to be one-dimensional charicatures. I don't understand exactly what Luz Guarany was... was she orchestrating it all? What was the deal with the scene where she threw the thing in the air? Did she get Marco robbed on purpose? I thought Fele Martinez did a decent job of portraying a para, even though sometimes he seemed to almost alternate between higher thoracic injury and a lower one. He is my new crush. Thanks, Mariposa and Enid! I actually watched it first without the subtitles and enjoyed it that way too. Am I the only one who was worried about them and employement/living conditions at the end? lol |

I trusted they would be fine! ***SPOILER*** I think my favorite part was the look on his face when they had sex. He hadn't seemed vulnerable until that moment and it was that tough guy showing a soft side for the first time. Loved that. |
