Sometimes I think, yeah! It's just the same... and then it's SO not the same... But I love that she's willing to discuss it. Yeah, it's cool. Although, I know that some here think it's weird that I'm this open with her. And I'm not up to explaining it right now. I can't clarify in my mind... we did have an additional discussion on the phone yesterday about it. But I'm pretty absorbed with other things right now... *** Ooops! My stuff wound up inside the quote box... sorry.

I would never, ever talk to my mother about these things, I don't have that kind of relationship with her at all. We don't have a bad relationship but it is merely like she is the woman who gave birth to me but other than that, it does not go that deep unfortnately. She can be very smothering with worries and always seeing the bad things in situations. I have been gone from my home for 20 years and I am glad we only see each other every couple of years. Unfortunately she is getting up there in age (71) and seems that the last couple of years we have become distant and I don't think she knows me much anymore but also is not too interested. I am not sure she has any clue who I really am, what kind of person and what I do in my life. I try to tell her but she forgets a lot too. I am thinking she also is struggling with oncoming Alzheimers or dementia. It feels like she is slipping away sometimes. Anyways, sorry I am going on about that but I envy if someone has such a great relationship with their mother.

PJ went back to North Carolina this morning, and I'm replaying a couple of things from this weekend over and over in my head.
Yesterday, my mom came over in the morning. Pretty much unannounced, but nothing out of the ordinary. We had just gotten back from working out, and PJ was in the shower. Anyhow, mom and I were having coffee when PJ came out of the bedroom. He didn't know she had come over, and while fully clothed, he hadn't put his legs on. His chair was out in the garage, so he was in a way that only I get to see him, usually. My Mom and Dad came with me one time to visit him at his place, so they have seen him using the chair, and without his legs on, but this was different. Both of them were a little taken aback, but recovery was fast, and we had a great visit.
Long story, short...on the drive to the airport, PJ asked me if I saw the look on mom's face when he came in. I said, "No, why?" And he said she had the same look that I get when he's like that. I thought nothing of it really until I met her out at a coffee shop, and she mentioned how she understands the feelings I have for him. I'm putting things together in my head and think that my mom may be a dev too!
My head is swimming right now!

Wow, Brooke! That would be quite something. Is she the type that would ever share that with you, if, in fact she were a devotee? I know for a fact that my Mom was not. When I was in a r'ship with a wheeler, she basically did not look at him. Ugh.

;D I hope you think that's as cool as I do.
I don't think I've mentioned this here before because so many people seem disgusted or freaked out by their parents as sexual beings. But, with my sis having kinks and me having this and some stuff my mom has said, when we were discussing the dev angst/darkness... I've wondered if she and Dad are a little kinky too. (In a vague sort of way... ;D)
Hugs, Brooke, I hope you can wrap your head around it and that it's a big ol' positive for you.

I've been wondering about my mom, too. She might be a dev, but in total denial of it. Not only because she actually had once a disabled boyfriend (to piss off her mom), but rather because whenever a disabled person came near us she smacked me "because I was staring" - even if I wasn't, even if I realized the person near us only after. I wondered maybe she was staring, then became ashamed of it, and hit me so I wouldn't realize her discomfort. It was as good a negative conditioning as can be. ;d I might not even be a born dev - she made me be one. ;d
Brooke, it looks to me your folks are becoming used to your sweetheart.

Super interesting Brooke. I have often wondered the same thing about my Mom and Dad. I have no reason to think either of them are but do believe that I was born a dev and think that genetics play a strong role in shaping who you are.
It sounds like what could have been uncomfortable turned out well! My family has all seen my husband out of his chair but I can't recall the first time it happened, it wasn't as memorable of a situation as yours.
