I lost a new friend when I told him I was a dev. I scared him off. He took me of his FB and his skype. Now I'm sad I will NEVER ever tell a love interest that I'm a dev again. I'm so hurt

Oh no! I'm sorry you went through that.
Sounds like he needs some time to figure this out and process it. It can be scary. Maybe he will come around.
Hugs.

Ugh, Dentelle, you were very brave to tell. Many times guys who initially react like this will end up doing some research about it and come back. Also with such a closed mind and knee jerk response I am not sure he would be the kind of guy for you.
I can only imagine how much this hurts.

Sorry to hear that. But you did the right thing. Imagine how much worse it would have been if you had told him after dating for a long time. Or if he found out by accident. I know it's so hurtful, but try to think of it as a way of weeding out the wrong guys early on. There are guys who will not react that way. Many of us have told our AB partners and it was fine. You don't have to keep it a secret.

Huggs to yous Actually this was just a friend. He doesn't want to be more, atleast not at this time. We have set things to rights. He explained that he was in a depression. So I figure I should understand this too. It might not have been the devness that got to him. I went off my rocker on my Facebook status hehe. Then went out for a coffee with my friend and now I feel better Sometimes I feel like this :

I'm feeling better. Thanks to you guys. I won't let it get me down. I have no trouble with my AB guy. He knows about my little secret. He can't understand it, but he knows and hasn't judged me and still wants to see me

Huggles, Dentelle. Fortunately, there are a lot of guys who react in a positive way towards us devotees .

Oh no I'm so sorry you had that reaction. Wait....... it sounds like things are going better, great! I know you know how I feel about it Dentelle, just like L, I am a strong advocate to tell early and often. I think the reality is that some guys will freak out, but many won't know what to say since its new. I guess it depends on their personality. Some may react negatively but some will be curious. I was always careful to make it positive and non-creepy (obviously) and hoped that they hadn't encounted bad devs before. Its always an experience!

I am sorry he reacted that way...I believe it is probably like with all things people don't know and are strange for them.....it scares them and they go in flee mode.....hang in there!
