I've been thinking about officially starting a publishing company specifically for dev-themed books.
I don't have the paperwork together yet to form the company, but my thought is that I would produce books to be sold at Amazon (ebook and paperback), nook, smashwords, and allromance.com.
I would hire cover designer and proofreader for each project and do my best on the marketing end when the book is ready.
We have some awesome writers on this board. If any of you would be interested in pitching me a book project, send me an email at ruthmadison82@yahoo.com
I'm going to work on getting a company email set up and putting together a contract to decide on splitting of royalties and issues like that as well as the other aspects needed for a good foundation.
But it won't work if I don't have books to produce! So let me know what you've got.
I hope that this will help build up the market for "wounded hero" books and that my company will become the go-to source for people looking for that!
Let me know what you think.

Ruth, this is an awesome idea. I'd def love to be considered as an editor (proofreader) and also, ultimately as a writer! Will def have to email you later.

I've already planned to rework Swimming to the Surface as a full novel whenever I get done with it. And I was specifically hoping to pitch it to you, Ruth! If you'd have me, of course But I'd love to help with editing and proofreading for others. The only thing is that I'd hope to work directly with the authors for maximum clarity. You've used Dev Love Press for your own stuff, right? I still think that having a slightly more neutral name would probably be advantageous, but it's not a dealbreaker.

Awesome, guys! I've already got kind of a lot invested in the name, but trust me that no one outside of our community is going to know what that means! The boys at work use the word "dev" constantly to mean "development" (So tell anyone who asks that the company name means the development of love. Isn't that sweet?) Send me your writing project ideas and we'll get started figuring out a timeline. I need to make up a contract. It will be simple and easy to read and we can discuss any elements of it in detail. I need to crunch numbers to figure out what sort of royalty I can offer. I know I won't be able to do an advance at this point. I also need to figure out the legalities of hiring a team such as the proofreader, etc. Jane, your knowledge of marketing might be a great asset too. So yeah, get the emails flowing my way!

LOL. Yeah, I always use "dev" to mean developer... Always kind of makes me laugh knowing the other connotation. I'm cool with whatever we can manage at this point. Def looking forward to talking to you more about it, Ruth. As you know I've been trying to do a lot more editing work and would love the opportunity to work with you and other devs and help out with this.

See, all we have to do is make sure that our heroes include lovelorn software developers and ruthless real estate developers, and we're home free!

Go Ruth! That's so exciting. When the second PD anthology came out with the Dev Love imprint I was hoping this was your plan. Definitely count me in.

What about a science fiction story about the main character being disabled?

Wow, congrats, this is an amazing idea! I'm so looking forward to reading the first books, but I guess that's thinking way ahead Anyways, I also work in marketing and PR (although in Europe) so feel free to ask me if you need anything in this direction

What about a science fiction story about the main character being disabled? Does he fall in love? It doesn't have to be a romance, but I want some love in there!
