Not sure if this has been mentioned here before, but I came across it completely by accident (a random ad showed up while I was googling something at work): "Toni, männlich, Hebamme - Daddy Blues" www.daserste.de/unterhaltung/film/filme-im-ersten/videos/toni-maennlich-hebamme-daddy-blues-video-102.htmlIt's a German TV series (with movie-length episodes) about a male midwife, Toni. In this episode Toni's sister is pregnant and her boyfriend (the father of the baby) is paralyzed after an accident. This part of the plot is about how his sister and her boyfriend deal with the challenge of becoming parents just after the accident and ensuing relationship issues, as well as conflict between the boyfriend and Toni. I found the writing a bit cringey at times and the acting by the main actor (Toni) felt flat to me. But it's funny at times and a light watch. The portrayal of the disability was actually pretty decent for that type of (rather low-budget?) TV show, I thought. i really enjoyed the movie, thanks for the tip! also like jakob matschenz a lot, so win win

EDIT** movie is TERRIBLE. Just sort of fast forwarded on the plot.
My dev high had led me to more content. Haven’t watched this one yet. I checked and it is available in the US.
I’m not really into the angry para storyline but thought to share it.

Just watched Trust Me on Hulu U.S. metro.co.uk/video/trust-series-2-official-trailer-1898618/ The second season has completely nothing to do with the first (different characters, plot, etc). The only similarities is that it is a UK hospital as the setting. Not even the same hospital for both season. The first season follows a nurse who fakes being an ER doctor and is surprisingly good at it. (This why I initially watched the show, I had no idea what the second season was going to be about). It follows her doing doctor stuff for the first time and trying to fool her coworkers. The second season follows a newly injured T6 incomplete soldier who is sent to this hospital spinal unit for rehab. Another patient warns him of something crazy going on in the ward so he tries to figure it out while trying to increase his movement and fight his bad PTSD. A lot of transfers and such. The actor is really attractive en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Enoch . I was shocked this was the second season as I had just imagined it would be a continuation of the first. To be honest, the first season was better in my opinion. Maybe because after the second season I was pissed at what was going on. Also I think the first had more character development. @jess I also just watched that and disliked the angry para angle. Also, what his gf did at the beginning was messed up and ruined it for me.

omg blueskye101 thanks for sharing that it looks amazing! I'm putting the trailer here for anyone who didn't follow the link you posted. It's a Netflix documentary about Gallaudet:
So apparently it's not just a coincidence that Netflix has so many documentaries lately about disability, but an actual plan.

I watched Standing Up for Sunny this week. I really enjoyed it! I'll be honest that I have been turning to romantic comedies/slice of life TV and movies much more since the pandemic started. There's something comforting about the isolated little worlds that they build where the biggest problems are relationship-based. Plus, Breaking Bad came out when I was a teenager, so naturally I'm an RJ Mitte fan. Those things combined made it pretty enjoyable for me and it was devvy at some parts, but your mileage may vary.

I've never had access to Val's original movie repository. I know that RapidShare is long gone, but I've also seen posts about some sort of spreadsheet. Is there still a link for that? What sort of information was included?
Long story short, I'm making a Google Sheets version of this thread and plan to share it in the next few weeks (I am working on it as I have time). I am looking to collect any information that already exists to avoid duplicating work.

Watched the season premiere of A Million Little Things and one of the main characters (and the hottest one of them, IMO) was hit by a car and is now a paraplegic. I feel like it’s definitely the type of show that will *magically* have him recover by end of season, but hopefully there will be some devvy moments before then!
Anyway, the season premiere should be on Hulu tomorrow and then the next episode is in two weeks after Thanksgiving!

Just saw (and skimmed) the episode 2 recap for this and it seemed somewhat devvy... Anyone verify? And if I wanted to get into this, would I need to really watch the first two seasons?

Woah, I'm suddenly remembering seeing "Going to the Mat" (about a blind wrestler) on Disney channel as a kid and being totally transfixed. Haven't thought about that in years!
