I've known several devs to be interested in blindness, but it almost always seems like a secondary interest, or maybe even more of a fantasy only kind of devness? Idk. I do know there are exclusively "blindness devs" out there, but maybe they have their own version of pd? - Hey, I'm right here! Definitely not a secondary interest or fantasy only. There are quite a lot of us, and I'm glad to see more blind dudes joining PD. I think mostly the blindness devs stay away from PD because of the name, which is too bad. Come on devs, speak up! I did vote for blindness too, even though it makes for an odd mix, put next to my amputee and low SCI interest.

I always thought it was weird that my main interests are blindness and amputees, since there is basically nothing in common... Mysteries of the dev mind I think since blindness is such a big presence in our preferences, we should encourage more discussion about it. (Since I'm having a bad day allow me at least to brag a little about bringing one blind dude here on PD! )

Thanks for the reply and Emma and for the poll, some interesting voting going on.
For me low level, complete SCI wins every time, not attracted to high level or incomplete. Now you see why I asked the question.
In the second poll, amputee-1 limb. My gut reaction is always SCI only, but if I'm honest there is something appealing about a single leg amputee. I think it's the contrast between a muscular, hairy leg and it's neighbouring prosthetic.

Bumping for the new devs.
Guys this is Devs only, please don't read, respond or vote (the mods can see who you are and you will get a warning).

Nice poll. Great list! Thanks for the bump.
It really is a nice, all-encompassing list. As I read through each item, I realized I have looked them all up before, with varying degrees of interest over time. However, even with such a detailed list, I still only made two selections from this list. In being honest with myself, I realize I am fascinated, perplexed, interested, and possibly even attracted to other disabilities in some cases, but from this list there is one main dis that truly gets me. It shows up in my fantasies and in my (currently satisfied) search for an ideal partner. I see no need to identify my preference by name, but I do find it interesting that out of so many potential disabilities, I really do have an innate sexual preference for one type over another. I must've been born with it, this preference, even though I'm still so "dis-friendly" with other types of disabilities. The Dev is only satisfied with a couple from this list.

I almost exclusively fantasize about low-mid level complete SCI at this point in my life. As a teen and even young adult I would have said my main interest was blindness. I'm still interested in it, but my SCI interest is so much more intense.
I'm into deaf guys for sure, but i don't know if that's specially dev related, or more about the culture clash that I'm into....my deaf fantasies would always include a non verbal deaf guy from a deaf family with strong ties in the deaf community.

For me, aphasia, apraxia and incontinence are the biggest ones. I voted muteness as well as stroke and TBI. Paralysis (especially without loss of sensation) or CP would be secondary to those three. But basically anything neurological (except for autonomic issues) works for me.

Funny how two years ago my answer would've been COMPLETELY different than now. First and foremost, I was a blindness dev. I was very, very convinced that I didn't find anything else attractive in the disability world. How wrong was I. Six months after finding PD, I added low paras to the small list, and I thought that was all. Wrong again. Nowadays, low paras aren't even among my primary interests. I'm more like a pan-dev — basically everything has its charm. I'm very much into CP, SCI, blindness, DAK amputees, I'd say those are my primary interests, but it doesn't take much to add some more to the list or take some off (perhaps a nicely written story and a few hours of research). Maybe someday it'll settle down and I'll know for sure.

I like CP, stuttering, and anything that causes a hunchback. There's other stuff that's not on that list but I guess it's so rare it's not really worth mentioning.
