To me it also makes total sense for a guy who can't walk to not wear shoes too...nice pic I'm sure MotorcycleCrash wears shoes sometimes. Shoes both keep warm and protect even feet that don't bear weight. Plus, most people wear shoes as a social custom and/or a fashion accessory. Why wouldn't guys in chairs do it for the same reasons? Yeah, I know that some devs love the barefoot look... and occasionally I do too. But I always, ALWAYS think about how dangerous it is for someone who is unaware of where their feet are and what they're doing to go shoe-less. So, so much that can happen... scrapes, pressure sores, broken bones... and all that matters a lot in an area that likely has decreased blood flow.

I can't speak for everyone, but I can tell you it's much better for some of us not to where shoes when we don't have to. Like Tony mentioned above, a lot of us tend to get swelling in the feet and so if you put on shoes a lot of time it can lead to bruising and even cut off some circulation. I have lots of visible bruises on my feet right now from when I used to where shoes all the time from years ago. The doctors have advised that I should loosen the laces on my shoes. But you can also end up looking like you're a 5 year old who doesn't know how to tie his shoes if you go that route, so I just where shoes which are a size or two bigger when I go out in public........ I never where shoes at home. I can imagine for those at greater risk, wearing tight or restrictive shoes could lead to long term consequences such as blood clots, as the legs already don't get enough circulation as it is...... Plus for those without feeling, they would have to make sure that the shoes aren't too tight on them before they go out or it could lead to serious problems down the line.

My last pair of shoes lasted 10 years...like to see an AB do that!!! Yeah! The last time I bought a pair of shoes was probably about 8 or 9 years ago. They never wear out! One of the only benefits of not being able to walk!

Plus, I don't even sweat...another reason to dump that AB guy. What other great advantages do we offer the disillusioned AB chick?

I never go shoeless. And I tend to get new shoes more often. Dress shoes, casual, cold weather, everyday. I think I have 7 pair with another on the way. True, they don't wear out but they get scuffed up and look shitty after awhile.

LOL on the shoes b/c I noticed that too. I need to wear shoes to control swelling, and because it hurts if I don't. I am never without a firm pair of shoes unless I am in bed. No slippers for me......

Ah, my apologies for my assumptions then. I need to remember that there is never a one size fits all answer. :-)

True, they don't wear out but they get scuffed up and look shitty after awhile. Yeah, I guess that's true. I live in a nice warm climate where the weather rarely changes. If I lived up north, where I'd have to worry about cold temperatures and snow I'm sure I'd be wearing shoes more often and probably have more of a need for them. I guess MC, Tony and I are the lucky ones of the bunch, living in Florida and Jamaica. Sunshine wins every time.......
