I am the opposite, nothing good has come of disability for me. I would be better off in every way if I was AB.

For me, it's a split decision, on this topic of whether 'disability' is a positive or negative affect on me...

Well, i had a lot of lessons to learn before i got hurt. i just wish i could've learned them without ending up in chair. Getting hurt did straighten my mind more though. It cut my field of play, so it was easier to focus on goals. I learned how to love and be loved...also, i have a much deeper appreciation for everything good in my life now. I think i've learned what being a man is about through having so much taken away. I'm not sure, if i went to being AB tomorrow, that i might fall back into a person who takes things for granted. I hope i wouldn't, but i don't know. anyway, you play the cards your dealt.

For me, I've been in this chair all of my life...so perhaps I have a different outlook on life, but being so, it's interesting, because when you're young, you can see no limitations in life, and it's only later that you learn what you can and can't do.
If I weren't 'disabled' I could be very well dead right now, as from what my first instincts were, and how my family was structured back when I was younger, I would've most likely joined the military...and probably not be in a good place...
