You don't need to buy a Kindle. Just download the free Kindle app on any computer, tablet or smart phone, buy the Kindle version of the book through the Amazon website, and read it anywhere. I've gone totally paperless on all the books I read for pleasure, it's great.
Thanks for the tip on the new anthology--I just picked it up. So cool!

Thank you devogirl - I’m not quite informed about the new technologies in reading, yet, I guess. I didn’t know about the app. That sounds great though.

Thank you devogirl - I’m not quite informed about the new technologies in reading, yet, I guess. I didn’t know about the app. That sounds great though. You can read kindle on any device, and they synchronize, so if you read 20 pages on your phone and then want to read on your laptop, it's all good. No guess work. Plus there are a lot of free books on kindle, and kindle unlimited. That's what I try to stick to. You can also order ebooks from many libraries, and read those on your devices. Let us know how you like it. PM me if you want more info. I only read ebooks.

Hey there, I just almost finished reading “Diving In” By Stacey Wallace. Is anyone here who hasn’t read the book and is interested? I’m happy to send it to a fellow dev. Preferably in Germany to keep shipping costs low. If outside Germany I’d welcome if you pay for shipping. Feel free to PM me. nobody interested? Read it years ago. Pretty thought provoking but difficult for my dev brain to process 😉

OMG I take back what I said about "Because He's Perfect." The blindness short story is all about how the guy rapes the girl, blackmails her and holds her as a sex hostage in his house until she falls in love with him. WTF did I just read? I was so angry the publisher is passing this off as a celebration of disability. Also the depiction of blindness is a pile of cliched garbage by someone who has obviously never met a blind person in her life or done the slightest bit of research. Do not buy!

tori mwin Ok, sorry I had no idea that you can get it at suche a low price for kindle since I don’t have kindle. So, for all these books mentioned here, do you think that I should get a kindle? Kindle books are typically priced pretty low. Usually $3-4 each. I also have Kindle Unlimited (as an author I put all my books in KU because I believe in the program and it works for me). With KU you pay like $9 a month and you can read ANY books for free that are enrolled in the program. Think of it like Netflix, but for books, if that makes sense. Not all Kindle books are KU but a LOT of indie authors (like myself and annabelle) have books in the program. I highly recommend.

I think this book is hit and miss. I suggested it after reading the stutter story, which I actually LOVED and I was hoping the rest of the short stories would be as good as that one. I didn't even think I was into that but it was a nice one. The blindness one pissed me off too! I read about half of it and gave up. It was far too creepy for my taste (and I can read some dark stuff). That's not my jam at all. I REALLY liked the HIV one though. (Not devvy, but just a good story I thought because I hadn't read anything similar to it). Many of these are hit and miss in the book, but for $0.99 I didn't see that it was too much of a risk.

Kindle Unlimited rocks! But finding books you want to read that are not KU 😭😭😭 That is frustrating! My hubby has me on lock down for buying books above and beyond KU (I dont blame him 😄🤣) Regarding the anthology... so far.not impressed. I am trying to get thru it without much luck and have skipped stories with issues such as asthma and ADHD. So we will see how I feel once I get thru the whole book.

You should read the book In Tune, Out of Sync. It was soooooo good. Not Kindle unlimited, but worth the money.

I am trying to get thru it without much luck and have skipped stories with issues such as asthma and ADHD. So we will see how I feel once I get thru the whole book. Again, yeah, I had ONLY read the first story (speech impairment) when I rec'd to the group, and I was seriously hoping the rest would be as strong as that one. I thought it had promise. I skipped both the asthma and ADHD I also skipped the OCD. (I feel that annabelle did a much more captivating story with OCD than this author did with Crazy in Love). Again I liked the HIV story. I only read half of the erectile issues. It started out interesting then went off into left field. I felt she had this guy that was kinda humble in the beginning then he went all alpha. I love a good alpha male, but it just seemed like too much of a character switch without enough of a transition for me. I skipped narcolepsy. Skipped diabetes. Read half of heavy scarring. Skipped ticks. I REALLY liked the male infertility one though, again, not devvy but just a well written, sweet story. I'm on the MS one right now, and it's not too bad so far. Again, another story that annabelle did better. LOL. It's hard to top anything she writes though! She's so good. So, for $0.99 I'm not gonna gripe too much because I got a couple enjoyable short stories out of it. I'll finish and let you all know what I think of the rest.

Thanks tori for the advice. Yes, I imagined KU similar as Netflix just with books. But to be truly honest, I don’t read as much that KU would make sense for me. However, maybe this will change now that I figured how much devy literature is out there 😉

But, there are tons of free, and really nice books/short stories here on the paradevo site.

I'm glad I got "Because He's Perfect" for only 0.99 because the price just went up to $4.99. I left my bad review on Amazon, although looking at the other glowing reviews, it seems most people only read one story out of the lot.
I'm still stunned that this kind of rape romance is being published today. I thought it was a relic of the past. But then I read about the new novel The Mister by the same person who wrote 50 Shades of Gray and omg it sound 1000 times worse. The article is hilarious though--now you don't have to read the book!

I'm with you. I haven't read any stories where the woman is held against her will that I can get behind. I THINK what these writers are going for is a modern-day retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but it just does NOT work in todays society. I DNF'd the rest of the book. There were no other stories I really liked other than the ones I mentioned previously in this thread. Glad I didn't pay the $4.99 for it.
