Big ups for the book I’d been waiting for for several months, How to Dance by Jason B. Dutton. The MMC is a teacher with CP who uses one of those walkers that you sort of back into; this mirrors Dutton’s own disability. The walker is right on the cover! The FMC is a dancer trying to make ends meet, and it could have gone into maudlin territory with “you can’t dance and I can’t live without dance,” but thankfully it didn’t. Definitely not a perfect book - it’s a debut - but Nick’s insecurities, realities, strengths, whatever are so raw here because of the author’s own experiences. It’s expensive on Kindle and I hadn’t seen it in my library’s selection… but you’ll probably want to reread, especially if you’re a writer and want to take notes. Lots of moving around in his own environment and having the FMC try to understand his normal. The audiobook is good, too. Gosh - that is expensive. Not showing up on audible for me (UK) so I think I’ll wait to see if it becomes more affordable - looks good though!

I recently got desperate for new devvy books and found three, all of which I immediately bought on Amazon. The first one was "The outcast" by Jamie Schlosser. It features cute teenage love ana MC with a limp (my preference). At first I was very excited because it had a lot of themes and scenes similar to a story I started to write 10 years ago, so it was nice to be in a familiar vibe, but unfortunately about 30% in the disability almost disappeared, and only resurfaced at times a tiny bit, so I got a bit disappointed. But there were some steamy scenes (not too mature but not "behind closed doors") so I read it until the end and somewhat enjoyed it. Two books remain for when I have the time to read them and I will report on here whether or not they are worth it. Dammit, just downloaded it but it showed as ‘read’ it’s exactly what I’d have downloaded and read so not that surprised maybe it’s time for a re read!

In that case, here are the other two books because it will be at least a few weeks before I can get to them, and I kind of want to take my time to enjoy each of them (since it's so hard to find anything!): Wrong Number by Laura Brown, and The Tutor (Kephart College Book 3) by Cassie Mint - apparently it's a short story. Maybe you will read them first and can share your review!

Thanks so much for the new book tips!! Always so gratefully received. I’ll check this one out now. I’ve been searching high and low and reading lots but none have sung to me enough to mention 😩 Also I think you should still mention anything you read because you never know, it might work for someone else

I have to really want a book to venture out of the Kindle Unlimited selection 😂 but I think I will for this one!

I’ve just started the Matchmaker Series by Lisa Freed. Only two released so far but enjoyed them both and more are coming soon. Have to suspend a bit of belief in the first book (male lead is non-verbal) with how easy they make it all work but still enjoyed. Second book involves a male hero with ED. Lots of over the top angst which I love 😅

Just finished Wrong Number. I really enjoyed it! Thought the author handled the female lead’s hearing loss really well. Male lead has limited mobility due to burn scars which he’s never shown anyone… it’s not amazingly devy but has its moments…lots of interesting family dynamics which were sometimes a little cliche/overplayed but it kept my interest.

That was the one with the bakery right? I read it and thought is was mwoah. Not a great read and mildly devy. (Maybe not my kind of devy). Yet still finished it.

Yet still finished it. yes, I started to read yesterday it but it didn't really grab my attention enough (and I have a deadline with some work so couldn't really afford to read the whole thing) so I skipped to devvy parts using the search options and I found it a bit disappointing. I liked the family dynamic and the guy but the story was not particularly exciting really, from what I skimmed.

Just wanted to suggest "Diving In" by Stacey Wallace. It's about a quad and the girl who saved him from a diving accident (but he doesn't know it was her). It's sweet and funny. Not very high on the spice scale but a good read.

Anyone here remember a book back quite a few years that had a girl who was being groomed to take over her Moms dry cleaning business and meets back up with a high school? Friend that is a quad after a water accident at a lake. Cannot for the life of me remember the title or find on my kindle or book shelves.
