An alien? or is that part cyborg thing supposed to be some kind of disability? Er, yeah. An alien. I forgot not everyone loves sci Fi & fantasy as much as I do. š The male main character is a large blue alien with horns and a tail, but other than that he's humanoid enough to be relatable. He is a veteran of some terrible war his species was involved in. Sounds interesting. Iām not much of a fan of horns but definitely love the idea of a tail. Thx for the recommendation š

Just finished Savage Collision by Gwyn McNamee. Stumbled across it after reading a post I think from ruthmadison explaining she didnāt like it due to the graphic and detailed sex scenes (paraphrasing as canāt find the original post, apologies!) Anyway, I thought it sounded right up my street š and it was! If thereās any other books you donāt like for a similar reason - please PLEASE let me know. Iāve been hunting for some new stuff for a while and just feel like Iāve read everything! I hadnāt seen/heard about this one! Finished it in 1 day. Loved every moment of it. So hot and steamy and sexy!!

Is there a spreadsheet or list of books anywhere? Or just have to look in the thread?

Thanks for the reco Which stories are your favorites so far? I read "When She Belongs" on a whim, because I first read "Devi's Distraction" a long time ago, and thought I'd check out another Ruby Dixon book. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I loved both books! I don't really want to wade through any non-devvy stories though. Are they all similar? Just reading blurbs it sounds like only a few include characters with disabilities. Am I wrong?

āWhen She Dancesā features āZakoar of the Broken Backā who made the prosthetics in the first book. He has lots of prosthetic parts. Some due to injury and some to advertise his work.
Barbarian Alien features a scarred āuglyā lead but I didnāt enjoy this as much. Especially the first half. Borderline abuse and I couldnāt warm to either character.
Thereās another with a Mail Order bride - possibly āAlienās Mail Order Brideā that has a similar themeā¦

I recently got desperate for new devvy books and found three, all of which I immediately bought on Amazon. The first one was "The outcast" by Jamie Schlosser. It features cute teenage love ana MC with a limp (my preference). At first I was very excited because it had a lot of themes and scenes similar to a story I started to write 10 years ago, so it was nice to be in a familiar vibe, but unfortunately about 30% in the disability almost disappeared, and only resurfaced at times a tiny bit, so I got a bit disappointed. But there were some steamy scenes (not too mature but not "behind closed doors") so I read it until the end and somewhat enjoyed it.
Two books remain for when I have the time to read them and I will report on here whether or not they are worth it.

Big ups for the book Iād been waiting for for several months, How to Dance by Jason B. Dutton. The MMC is a teacher with CP who uses one of those walkers that you sort of back into; this mirrors Duttonās own disability. The walker is right on the cover! The FMC is a dancer trying to make ends meet, and it could have gone into maudlin territory with āyou canāt dance and I canāt live without dance,ā but thankfully it didnāt.
Definitely not a perfect book - itās a debut - but Nickās insecurities, realities, strengths, whatever are so raw here because of the authorās own experiences.
Itās expensive on Kindle and I hadnāt seen it in my libraryās selectionā¦ but youāll probably want to reread, especially if youāre a writer and want to take notes. Lots of moving around in his own environment and having the FMC try to understand his normal.
The audiobook is good, too.

Not showing up on audible for me (UK) so I think Iāll wait to see if it becomes more affordable - looks good though!

In that case, here are the other two books because it will be at least a few weeks before I can get to them, and I kind of want to take my time to enjoy each of them (since it's so hard to find anything!): Wrong Number by Laura Brown, and The Tutor (Kephart College Book 3) by Cassie Mint - apparently it's a short story. Maybe you will read them first and can share your review!
