I have read it recently. Very interesting, unusual writing technique, basically the story is told from the point of view of objects (military or medical equipment, tools, clothing items) which is both intriguing and uncomfortable. The plot is very simple but the weird "narrator" makes it not an easy book to read. I found it very mildly devvy, though I'm an amp dev and that's what it's about pretty much. It's autobiographical and there's a few cool interviews with the author on youtube.

I saw a book club mentioned real quick...is there an active one going on?
Regarding books: I recently read Orion and loved it. The "ON the ropes" series is good too. Also read "love in sight" which was a fave.

Love in Sight was great as well. I think there is a Goodreads group for readers of our genre. I requested to be in it but haven't got accepted yet. Not sure how active it is but I know a few of the admins of that group are members here.

It'd be cool to read a dev book with other devs and all reflect on it together.

It had been so long since I read Love in Sight I had to go back and look it up. I'd LOVE a dev book club! I think it would be fantastic for us all to read books at the same time and chat about them. I binge read On The Ropes. I really loved the pacing of Aly's writing. I'm trying to get better and review and write about books on my blog as SOON as I read them. I read about three books a month at least so if I don't write a review or blog on them right away my brain dumps everything I wanted to say about it. I did write a review about that series if anyone is interested here is the link (and a shameless plug for my blog):

Not sure how active it is but I know a few of the admins of that group are members here. So, if the group is "Accessible Reads" it turns out that I think I might be an admin? Or maybe members can add people? Either way... I'm pretty sure it could be revived.

That is so weird cause I went in there today (accessible reads and was sad that it hasn't been active in a while. There was also an actual book club where a book would be chosen and discussed via Skype but I am on UK time and would be fast asleep. I remember Emma was an organiser of that, I don't know if that has stopped.

Yes, I organized a book club here around 2011-2013. We would post online and also chat over skype. It was fun at first but eventually ran out of steam. Like a lot of book clubs in real life, people eventually stopped reading the books. We switched to movies, but even then hardly anyone was keeping up. Also with members all over the world it was impossible to find a time to chat. All the threads are still here, if you want to see what we read or watched. paradevo.proboards.com/search/results?captcha_id=captcha_search&display_as=1&search=Search&where_thread_title=book%2Bclub&who_only_made_by=0Not sure if that link will work. Just do a search for book club in thread titles. I'm glad to hear there is a platform over on Goodreads. Have fun!
