Eyyyy Para&Poly you totally made my day. And I think I can hazard a guess as to your own quirks, based upon the posts you liked. Next time we have the Paradevo music trivia night, you're on my team.

I've been lobbying for years for Soundtracks for the Blind to be included in the core curricula at the dev academy.

This is one of the more somber tunes from the Florida-based rock band Shinedown. It's on their third album The Sound Of Madness from 2008. It never aired on alt/rock radio.

I saw this thread topic at the top of the list, as I lay here next to an open window and hear the crickets outside. It may not be "music" but I always look forward to the second half of summer because it's the only time I can relax at night and listen to the crickets and cicadas in the trees. I do have some good music too, but right now I'm enjoying nature. I guess I've just outed myself as a nerd

Since I'm a giant hipster, I like to know what people are into. So what are you listening to? If you're not listening to anything right this second, are there any albums you've been addicted to lately? Post 'em. The Brian Jonestown Massacre - WisdomThis is, in my opinion, the best song on the best shoegaze album ever made and BJM are the best shoegaze band that have ever existed. There's a really great documentary about BJM and their rivalry with The Dandy Warhols that I highly recommend called Dig! Anton Newcombe, the brains behind BJM, is a tormented genius that has created some incredibly beautiful music. Glorious Shoegaze!

Newb here. I've been perusing the last few months of this thread and I feel like I know some of you quite well already. You may have had some "liked post" spam. Apologies to myrrh in particular for your excellent selections! Here's a bit about me.
Now, this is what I need!

I've been missing the 90's a lot recently. This album is 25 years old and I vividly remember going to Sam Goody to buy it new Freshman year of high school

Here's another one from the 90s, which I would hear a lot on a local alt rock station, before it switched to classic rock.

This Lost Woods/Saria's Song cover made me v happ If you also enjoy, he's got a bunch of great stuff on his YouTube Video game music is awesome and is music... I'll fight anyone that says otherwise. When I read, study, am writing, or digging hard into policy research I rock out to classical, some movie instrumental music (Braveheart, Last Samurai, LOR, etc), and video game music.

IcarusFellOnce yesss I do the same thing! When I'm working/focusing, VSQ is my go to, but I definitely get into video game and movie scores as well. For me, it has to be instrumental and it has to be familiar music. If there are lyrics or it is something new, my brain will focus too much on the music and not on what I need to be doing. But I love putting on music that blends into my brain activity in a way that is not distracting but really it helps me focus even more

There are a bunch of jazz streaming channels that are made for cafes that are great for work/focusing, too. I've spent the last 6 months camping on 24/7 Youtube streams with titles like "Warm cafe jazz" and "Wednesday Bossa Nova beat." It's funny because I used to work best with inappropriately loud techno or drone, but apparently I just want some nice muzak these days. Pounding music all day makes my ears and head hurt now. Gotta reserve that goodness for the weekends, I guess... Youth, why hast thou forsaken me?? Unrelated: I've been obsessing over this track. Obsessing. I hit these snags, like when I looped Empire State Human by The Human League for like 2 straight weeks. Seriously, that is a perfect song. Anyway, this track is by Kris Baha, who I'd never heard of before. An article I found reviewing this album talks about how Baha sings with a voice somewhere between Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan and Skinny Puppy's Nivek Ogre, and that line actually made my heart skip a beat. I need to track down whoever wrote this review and buy them a beer. There's a link to a massive article on what is apparently a vivacious EMB revival happening now. My friends... My body is ready. The article talks about Tzusing a lot. I had bought his debut a couple summers ago and got a lot of playtime out of it last fall. I remember a lot of long bus rides home, sitting in the red running lights and watching the rainy city go by, headphones throbbing with this album. Really good stuff.
