Woah...Dev high on tourettes syndrome. This is new

He people. You may or may not know me. I was super active here a while back.

As pretty much all of us have experienced, my preference for disability has changed and morphed over the years.
My first and primary attraction was CP..as i got older and met many disabled people, I found that guys with SCI (quadriplegia) were my biggest turn on. I also had bouts of quadruple amputee fantasies. But my attraction has always been to guys with more severe phsiycial disabilities who require help.

Fast forward to now, I'm married to a high quad who is pretty much my ideal guy and honestly, my devness has been at an all time low since our relationship started...I've just felt content and have been focusing on other things.

Then last week, I went to a restaurant and had a server with tourettes syndrome. I met another guy with tourettes once and he did nothing for me but I was so taken with this guy. I should mention that he also appears to be flaming gay-which, as a straight female, isn't particularly sexy but his tics were so fascinating.
I went back and had him as a server again and I was even more taken with him the second time. His persoanlity along with his tics are sweet and funny and fascinating.

Anyone else here ever been into tourettes?? This is certainly the first time for me.

My guy has a mild form of tourettes... mostly just some tics, like blinking a lot. I find it to be wicked sexy.

Iiiinteresting. I so do not have a thing for Tourettes, but I work with a guy who stutters sometimes, which I don't love, but sometimes he gasps a little bit occasionally. That I can appreciate Glad there's a few of you!

If any of you haven't read the book Jerk, California by Jonathan Friesen, you should. Its written by a guy with Tourette's and he's said it pretty closely mirrors the things he'd dealt with as a teen (family, other people, love, etc)

I've read it a couple times and while I didn't think of it as devvy at the time...I did just say I've read it more than once over the years since it came out.

It's an honest and really interesting look at what it's like living with TS. Check it out and let me know what you think of it!

vancityippy, I remember you well, especially because I always felt that your dev experiences were very similar to mine :-). I'm also into CP or anything that comes with involuntary muscle movements, like Tourettes! I definitely have been studying this world of youtube videos :-D. I even once briefly dated a guy with Tourettes. While the more severe conditions tend to fascinate me more, I can also enjoy involuntary blinking or little movements very much (same goes for people with a stutter).

The server sounds very sexy :-). Too bad I'm so far away... But I think it's really cool that they employ someone with Tourettes as a server. I couldn't really imagine that happening over here. (And out of curiosity: What kind of tics did he have?)

It could have been a decade ago, but I remember a server at a restaurant over here who might have had Tourette's. I'm not sure what his condition was and don't remember it well, but we were wondering what it was.

Yea, I was pleased to see him working and one of the first things I wondered was, is it hard to get a job with TS- especially as noticeable as his.
He was definitely trying to suppress them while at the table but his tics are very noticeable. He had some facial/ vocal tics and would close his eyes and grunt between words and actually shout some words loudly. When he wasn't at the table he was grunting loud enough for everyone to notice while standing behind the bar.
At one point I made a joke about the fact that I was ordering chicken strips as it seems like a child's meal and he repeated "chicken strips" twice loudly (which after some research, I realize is a thing... people with TS can repeat others words or actions as a tic).
He had lots of motor tics too and his arms would tighten into his chest, much like dystonic movements of CP. He would also jump backwards occasionally.
My biggest delight was the fact that he was such a presence in the place- it's a small/ very casual restaurant with a bar and he just put his own music on and was doing his thing (like I said- unless my gaydar is broken, he's gay) He had Adele on, was singing and tic-ing and it's up to the customers to deal.

Wow, thanks for the detailed description! That sounds really hot ;-). I probably wouldn't have been able to concentrate on anything or anyone else but him if I would have been there :-D.

I also like the fact that there is someone with TS working in a very public space with so many different people throughout the day. I always hope situations like this can make people (in this case the customers) more aware and also more accepting of disabilities.

This has been quite an interesting read, and definitely a dev territory I haven't considered before! I loved the description and place setting. For me, I don't think this kind of condition would tickle my dev fancy at all, but then I haven't come across a Tourette's dude who's so obviously Tourette's. I'm generally a nervous individual anyway, and I have this thing called misophonia; you can look it up but I always think of it as "miserable sounds" and that's what it is; I really can't stand loud, abrupt noises, like sneezes or a loud voice yelling out, and if someone is coughing during a movie or ceremony, I want to crawl out of my skin. Me and Tourette's guy wouldn't last long, I'm afraid, but I do find it fascinating when someone discovers a new "crush" or category of crush in this instance. Now I will probably be hyper-aware of any of these individuals around me. And by the way, I'm really nice... it's not like I would tell the guy to shut up or anything. I'm very tolerant and accepting of all kinds of disabilities, a statement I probably don't need to write here. But my poor brain can't take it. If there is the opposite of this guy out there, maybe a genius who is mute, a mathematician or musician who never uttered a word in his life, well, give him my number. Er, or FaceTime or something. Quiet guys are nice.

But I came across an episode which was only about TS. Well, vocal ticks are ANNOYING, nothing to say about it, I can't stand people chewing next to me, so someone making noises non-stop it's a huge turn off.
Then, they interviewed a handsome guy with mild tourette. His ticks were blinking a lot and grimacing, omg 😲, I can't explain but it definitely awakened my devness. Of course, the fact he was handsome helped a lot, so even when he was grimacing, he was still handsome 😅 - what makes it cute and sexy. No, I didn't become a TS dev and I know I won’t but if I met a guy with mild tourette, no vocal ticks, I'd give it a try for sure.

I'm not sure how I missed this thread until now, but TS has always been one of my main dev turn ons. In general, I like most movement disorders, but TS is especially interesting to me. I would have been super distracted by that server...in an amazing sort of way 😁.

I don't particularly like when swearing is involved, but it doesn't bother me unless it's really severe. Like you said, it's actually quite rare, and in many of the people I've seen who have it, it's fairly subtle. I think most of the examples we see online of people swearing loudly are extreme cases...or not even TS at all. A lot of times FND can kind of look like TS, but it presents differently, and swearing seems to be more common.
