I was having a great week up until about an hour ago. I was supposed to have a date tonight and I texted her to confirm the time. I wasn’t expecting the reply to be the “sorry, I think you’re a great guy but your disability is just too much for me. I’d love to just be friends” spiel. Gee, thanks. This didn’t occur to you until just now? Fuck, this is getting really old. Damn that sucks man. As annoying as it is that she waited until the day of the date to drop out, better beforehand than afterwards. She could’ve handled it differently, but it would’ve been a waste of both of your guys’ time and money if she faked interest through a bad date.

Didn't you just move there frankj ? In Oct 2017, yes... It is just not working out the way I hoped it would. Maybe I can find another job here, otherwise I'm going back to the Netherlands in October.

Sorry to hear about your job frankj HR can be awful at the best of times. I know it's up to the Manager's discretion whether they keep you on or not but it does seem strange. Is it fairly easy to find something else in your line of work? There's more than enough work for Dutch natives in Krakow, but I am not looking for another Customer Service job. So, hopefully I'll find something else here. Otherwise I'm going back to Holland in October. Which would be a shame, but better that than to stay in a job I positively revile... Why are the jobs plentiful for Dutch natives? Is this the company that did a bait and switch on your job once you showed up?

Is this the company that did a bait and switch on your job once you showed up? There are a lot of companies outsourcing from the Netherlands to Poland, so they need Dutch speakers for those jobs. But mainly those jobs are focussed on Customer Services. Shell Krakow did do a bait and switch on my job. First I was recruited for the position of Contract Manager and when I arrived I had to sign an employment contract that said Customer Service Specialist. If I refused to sign, I could not work at Shell and had to go back to the Netherlands. After about 8 months I decided that I will not be pushed around by my team leader any more. Either I find something within Shell that I really like and want to do, or I will leave the company in October. Either for another job with another company, or going back to the Netherlands and build up my life there, again.

And then find out what you thought you were getting was not even on the table. Bait and switch at its worst. I've been there, although in my case it was a relationship rather than a job. *sigh* It's also difficult to come back and rebuild. Very difficult. The good news is, it's not impossible. And what you learn along the way never leaves you. Best of luck.

The very fact that they messed around with the job description in the first place is a sign that this could well be a blessing in disguise. Good luck frankj! Me? Well Ma Hopper came round to see how I was doing and said she was proud about me moving on and out. What ma wouldn't be? Now I'm waiting for Ocean's 8 to start.

Well my week at the moment is this…
This time next week I will be in Blackpool which is a holiday resort in England, it will be the first time that my Army friends had seen me in a wheelchair. That 28 years ago,,, in two weeks I’ve got a school reunion but I don’t think my skin could take it. I read about one lad on here who’s date said no through his disability… sorry to hear. There have been times during the last eleven years, in which I’ve spent most laid up through sore etc. One time I contacted dignates, about going to Switzerland, depression was that bad. I felt sorry for myself for a few years but there will be guys who cannot attend next week who have been killed in action. And although I’m tetraplegic I’m thankful to be alive, even though I cannot drink because it reacts with my baclofen. Anyway I’m still single and it doesn’t bother no more, Life is just too short to bother about stuff,

A belated thanks, mate.
Just got off the phone to Ma Hopper asking whether I'd like anything added to their online shopping order for when I go to dogsit this weekend.
She's a persistent creature is my Mum and after several polite declines and explaining that I'm alright for gorceries for now as I'd just walked back from Lidl, she's insisted that she'll "Get a few bits in". I'm not complaining though, the 'few bits' she got last week were hundreds of teabags and cake.
She's a gentle soul is Ma Hopper but ruthless too, in the nicest way. Much to the disgust of my sister, who is seething at my, as she puts it 'special treatment'.
Pfffft I say!
It's not as if I'm taking washing back or anything like that, as I'm doing everything chore-wise myself but as @tykes said, it's that bond between mothers and sons that sisters don't get.
It's a funny old world.

My week so far: On Monday I started with food poisoning, so I called in sick from work and went back home. Tuesday and Wednesday I stayed home and today I went back to work. Today I also resigned my job at Shell. Not because I want to leave the company, but because of some freak rule of HR that says that I can only apply for other jobs at Shell if I have approval of my manager or if I resigned my current job. And since my manager would not approve me moving to another team... It's just weird YIKES! when i left my last job i had to call in sick at my job i had then so i could interview for the new one. the next day i was REALLY sick, an awful stomach flu. i was at work when it struck and my boss made my poor co-worker come and clean up after my puking so bad. and sent me home. that day i got the news i had gotten the new job but had to drug test the NEXT day. so i called in sick again. the girl i worked knew about the new job i was trying for, she was the one who had to clean up my sick said "were you faking so you'd have time to do all that stuff for the new job?" i just looked at her then she said "ohhhhhh yeah there was NO WAY you could have faked that!" best of luck wiith your new job.

Ok, bunster , stop for a moment. What are you using to post here, a computer? Phone? Tablet? Help me help you fix these formatting problems you're having, because it is very difficult to read. there i corrected what i saw as difficult to read posts. half the time if i catch myself posting without quoting i CAN'T erase the post and start over with a corrected post because there is NO delete button. other times there are. i use a laptop. by my account i am 75% BETTER than i was to start with and am trying to improve each time. the last site i was on i had NO problems with, this site just doesn't seem to be consistent when I USE IT!

You're right, you have gotten better. You're almost there. There will always be a little button that says "edit" in the top right-hand corner of your post. If you want to delete the post, you can find the delete function under the little drop-down arrow that's a little bit right of the edit button. There's a small gear on this button. When quoting, make sure you stay in "preview" mode instead of BBCode. This is controlled by small tabs just below the text input window. Let me know if you have trouble finding the buttons, and I'll take a screenshot. I'm on mobile right now, so it looks a little different for me.

half the time if i catch myself posting without quoting i CAN'T erase the post and start over with a corrected post because there is NO delete button. Wait now I'm confused. You always just quote a person w/o adding anything to the post then create another entire new post with your comment. Just STOP quoting and just post like you do. If you feel its unclear who you are responding to use their name at the top of the post. Also there is a delete button. It's possible to go back and delete posts once they are posted if you desire. Several people have explained how to do for you but you refuse to recognize that your screen is identical to all other users here. To remind you, click the gear on the top right of your post (not top right of the whole screen) and when the drop down opens you scroll down to delete and release the button on your mouse. FYI It is also possible to edit posts you have already created if you notice a spelling, grammar or other error. Just find the thread with the post and hit the edit button on the right of the post. I do this with most of my posts (including this one) since I suck at typing and love to hit 'create post' before proof reading.
