Found Shane and Hannah a couple of years ago, loved "Strangers Assume My Girlfriend Is My Nurse". Felt that the whole book really had an easy-to-understand thematic element to it that's not as common in most memoir-type books. I get so pissed off whenever I see comments on their videos that are made by people who think their relationship is fake. Maybe I'm projecting my own insecurities on to the situation.

There’s a standup comedian with muscular dystrophy (his name escapes me right now) with a bit along those lines: “I’ll meet people who ask about my condition and I tell them ‘I have muscular dystrophy.’ They respond ‘Ah, I know MS.’ ... where did I lose you?” Edit: I remembered his name: Brett Leake I just discovered them few weeks ago. I downloaded their books : There are some things I like and some less. I don't doubt their love, because the way she is looking at him = "Eyes of love". :-) Personally tho, I would not like to share my life like that on YouTube. But yes, they mostly live and touring the world thanks to that ... For most people they are inspiring, that's what matters ! Side note : I like their dry humour ... If you also like this kind of spirit : You might check out Zach Anner books and YouTube channel ! There is a also another comedian with muscular distrophy . His name is Steve Way . Check out the TV show called "Ramy" on Hulu, it's just wonderful : . :-)

So happy for them. Thought I saw an episode where she bought a really fancy wedding dress last year for the big day. Maybe going to wear that for the second celebration they talk about when Covid calms down

I find them interesting especially because Shane and I both have the same disability (SMA Type 2). I like how they’re advocating PWDs can have “normal” lives. However on the flip side, I don’t agree with, what appears to me, using Shane’s disability as a source of income, but that’s the modern age for you, everyone wanting to be an influencer.

How does that differ from pro athletes, wheels0090? In terms of taste, I agree with you. I don't follow them because the influencer schtick is not for me. But in principle I don't think it's any different from Serena Williams or Peyton Manning- using unusual physical characteristics to make people feel something.

Well it is good he's got the income now since getting married would likely end most disability supports, something I wished they'd use their platform to raise awareness of, among other disability policy issues.

That’s an interesting point, and I agree there’s not much of a difference in that sense.

Agreed but policy issues don’t get you views/likes. Sadly

Even if they just had a Youtube VLog, they've done more to raise awareness of disability issues than 99% of us will do in our lifetime. What is "raising awareness" without changing people's perceptions of PWDs. But that's not all they do. Shane runs a non-profit that provides medical equipment to people with MD, has written 3 popular books, and has done countless speaking engagements that enlighten adults and kids about how to view people with disabilities. He's achieved SO much in a short time using what he has. I'm incredibly happy for their success and happiness.
