I don't know if this is already a thread but if not thought it could be. What movies are people watching/have people watched/are their favorites. Personally I can start with a couple movies I watched recently. I saw First Man recently which was pretty cool. It was about Neil Armstrong with Ryan Gosling doing a stellar job in the role of Neil Armstrong. It was pretty crazy what NASA put their astronauts through at that time. www.imdb.com/title/tt1213641/Another movie I rewatched recently was The Hateful Eight which is a Quentin Tarantino movie, so you can't go wrong. www.imdb.com/title/tt3460252/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1

So far, I just watched Avengers: Endgame. I also watch Bollywood movies from time to time.

The last movie I watched in the cinema was "Free Solo". It's a documentary about a climber, who climbed El Capitan without a rope... and it's extremely intense and scary, even though we obviously know he survives it. Also very interesting psychologically, as he (not surprisingly) has some psychological anomalies. Very interesting and fascinating as a whole! Also a little crazy, of course

I am a big movie guy and watch quite a few. Lately I’ve been going around 3-4 times a month. Here’s my breakdown of what I’ve seen most recently in theatres:
GREAT MOVIES Midsommar - It’s absolutely disgusting and beautiful and a lovely follow up to Hereditary from Ari Aster
The Farewell - It’s definitely not for everyone, but I thought it was remarkably touching for what is somewhat of a subtle story. Reminded me a lot of one of my favorites from Netflix, Paddelton
The Peanut Butter Falcon - A Huckleberry Finn-esque adventure with a lot of sweet moments and good laughs. One of the main actors has Down Syndrome and he was fantastic.
GOOD MOVIES Ready or Not - Super campy and a fairly ridiculous premise, but the movie is a lot of fun. Samara Weaving is really great in this, and it has a lot of similar vibes to her role in The Babysitter.
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood - It’s epic and long and very Tarantino. Leo and Pitt are awesome, and Margot Robbie is there to dance and smile a lot. It’s a fun movie.
Good Boys - Kids making dick jokes. It’s dumb and silly but I’m dumb and silly so I was happy. If you go into it, it’s probably exactly what you would want from that kind of movie.
Where’d You Go Bernadette - Not particularly memorable but it’s enjoyable and has really good acting. My girlfriend absolutely loved this one and it’s another one that I think if it sounds interesting to you, you’ll like it.
Spider-Man Coming Home - Everything I said about Where’d You Go Bernadette, but for superheroes.
The Lion King - Gorgeous to look at, and basically identical to the original in most other ways. Billy Eichner is a great Timon.
NOT IMPRESSED The Last Black Man in San Francisco - It’s probably harsh to say I didn’t like this one, but it’s really slow, and while it has a couple of excellent moments in it, I just don’t think it was worth all the hype and build up. Good movie, but I was disappointed relative to how much buzz it’s gotten.
Yesterday - I really wanted to like this movie but it is just too much cool premise and not enough of anything else. It’s like a 90 minute long super bowl commercial.
Child’s Play - Not scary enough to be scary, not funny enough to be funny. Wants to be something but I thought it was just too confused at what kind of movie it wanted to be.

@steve I haven't seen Midsommar because I'm waiting for a digital release. I really do love Ari Aster's Hereditary, I really do think it is one of the best new horror/thriller movies which really doesn't happen in 2019 to often.
I'm just going to stay away from Child's Play, I just have a feeling it's going to give me a conniption so I'd rather not watch it.

I liked Midsommar but felt it was a more cliche horror movie compared to Hereditary. But it was still very entertaining.

Like sy, I'm waiting for a home release of Midsommar. I'm getting a Wicker Man vibe from it. Love folksy, culture clash horrors. I also agree with what @steve said about Yesterday. Great concept and fun soundtrack but poor execution. I liked the new IT and I thought it did the 'contemporary' parts of the novel justice. Although it was jumpscare heavy to a major fault, the more psychological horror elements were top notch.

My favourite movie of 2019 (now that the year’s just about over) was Birds of Passage. It follows an indigenous Columbian tribe involved in the 1970s drug trade and its threat to their lives, culture and traditions. I also enjoyed John Wick: Chapter 3 -- it's non-stop mindless action, but I was glued to the screen for over two hours.
More recently, I saw The Irishman, Joker and Once Upon a Time In Hollywood.

Knives Out was a lot of fun. Now that Daniel Craig is finished with Bond, a Benoit Blanc series would be most welcome.
Joker I liked a lot, the more times you see it, the more details you can pick up. Focus more on Murray in the climax 2nd time round for example.

Are you guys going to kick me out if I say I fell asleep halfway through Hereditary? Historically I've really enjoyed A24's horror, especially It Comes at Night, The Witch, and Green Room. (Into the Forest? Was that them, too?) This week I'm going to see The Seventh Seal at a little local theater, and am quite looking forward to it. I've been meaning to re-watch Apocalypse Now, hopefully this weekend. My brother and I have been working our way through through the Alien movies, the goal was to hit all of them in order of release date, but we started a year ago and we only just finished the third one. I haven't seen Alien: Resurrection in probably 15 years though, so I'm pretty stoked to get a move on. I'm probably one of the only five people in the world who really liked Alien: Covenant when it came out. As for Prometheus, I just typed out that I "never saw it," but then Googled it and realized that I did.... although that section of my memory seems to be totally blank, so it must not have left a big impression.

Nah, I won't kick ya out . Mainly because I'm too ascared to see it! A quick google confirms that Into The Forest was indeed A24. Green Room was fantastic. Anton Yelchin is sorely missed and Sir Patrick Stewart got a fantastic chance to show a more menacing side, something that he's rarely had a chance to do in recent works. Lucky you, that'll be special. Very aware of the film but it's one of those (much like Apocolypse Now) that I feel is so much better to watch on the big screen so I'm waiting for a chance to see a screening at a fairly local independent cinema if they choose to show in one of their weekly 'classic' screenings. Are you watching the director's cuts of the Alien movies?
