Are you guys going to kick me out if I say I fell asleep halfway through Hereditary? Historically I've really enjoyed A24's horror, especially It Comes at Night, The Witch, and Green Room. (Into the Forest? Was that them, too?) This week I'm going to see The Seventh Seal at a little local theater, and am quite looking forward to it. I've been meaning to re-watch Apocalypse Now, hopefully this weekend. My brother and I have been working our way through through the Alien movies, the goal was to hit all of them in order of release date, but we started a year ago and we only just finished the third one. I haven't seen Alien: Resurrection in probably 15 years though, so I'm pretty stoked to get a move on. I'm probably one of the only five people in the world who really liked Alien: Covenant when it came out. As for Prometheus, I just typed out that I "never saw it," but then Googled it and realized that I did.... although that section of my memory seems to be totally blank, so it must not have left a big impression. Nah, I won't kick ya out . Mainly because I'm too ascared to see it! A quick google confirms that Into The Forest was indeed A24. Green Room was fantastic. Anton Yelchin is sorely missed and Sir Patrick Stewart got a fantastic chance to show a more menacing side, something that he's rarely had a chance to do in recent works. Lucky you, that'll be special. Very aware of the film but it's one of those (much like Apocolypse Now) that I feel is so much better to watch on the big screen so I'm waiting for a chance to see a screening at a fairly local independent cinema if they choose to show in one of their weekly 'classic' screenings. Are you watching the director's cuts of the Alien movies? Yeah buddy. Although to be perfectly honest, it's been so long since I've seen most of them that I probably couldn't tell you the difference. The exception being Aliens, because a yearly viewing of that is necessary for mental health reasons. Self care: fancy face masks, tasty treats, and Aliens.

On Netflix, I just recently saw The Laundromat with Meryl Streep, Gary Oldman, and Antonio Banderas, and the movie American Son with Kerry Washington in the lead role.
The first film is based on a tragic boating accident in Lake George that led to the deaths of several senior citizens, including the husband Joe of Ellen Martin (Meryl Streep's character), and what lengths Ellen goes to in order to get compensation from the boating company, which happens to be connected to a global conspiracy of tax-evading and money-laundering shell companies. The second film is about a biracial American estranged couple whose teenage son goes missing due to a police incident involving a traffic stop gone terribly wrong. Both eye-opening films highlighted the political divisions and socio-economic ills still prevalent in the USA and the globe.
I'm planning to watch Rambo: Last Blood some time next week.

Did anyone see “Uncut Gems”? Such a wild movie! I never thought I’d see Adam Sandler in another serious role after “Punch Drunk Love.”
It’s a super frenetic movie about a jewel seller who is a gambling addict and keeps making super risky bets. It’s very stressful to watch but really well acted!
Otherwise I saw “Parasite” recently but I’ll talk about that in another post.

Saw Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen over the weekend. A wickedly funny return to form.
Curious to know what American audiences make of it when it comes out there.

Hugh Grant steals the film, mind. He's hit something of a revival period in his career and his role is almost cathartic. As he's someone who has had his life ruined by the press, he's having a blast as a sleazy PI working for an equally slimy newspaper editor.

The last time My Left Foot was shown on Arte was two years ago, if I remember correctly.
Unfortunately, you don't see Daniel Day-Lewis' movies on television very often anyway.

The Gentlemen, a movie that has been mentioned here several times, is also one of the movies I have been waiting for for a long time. In Germany, it all takes a bit longer, especially if you don't like the German synchro. *g*
Also I am waiting for Three Christs:
I just must watch this movie. Walton Goggins is always worth it!

Inside I'm Dancing is not very popular, i accidentally catch him before many years and bang my next big thing, this movie is about prize of independence on PWD and some cool duchen dude. Just search for three christs seem interesting, unfortunately i could not find it, but find this "german" movie...

I came across Three Christs more by coincidence, had read about it somewhere when I wanted to know what Walton Goggins is currently shooting. With Peter Dinklage I don't know many movies/series yet. I was even waiting for Game Of Thrones to have a decent ending and to be able to watch it in English. In any case he was quite good in it, judging from what I've seen. Richard Gere gets better and better with age, I think.

Ah, I see, many film pearls are found by accident. Happens to me often too. I will definitely check it out. Films about physically disabled people are rare. Most are also bad. The last big exception was Ziemlich Beste Freunde(Intouchables). It may well be that Three Christs is still nowhere to be found. I think it has only been shown at festivals so far... Knockin' On Heaven's Door is a pretty good German movie! For me it's almost the only watchable one with Til Schweiger. I don't like him usually at all. Although I have to admit that Wo Ist Fred? was pretty funny. *g*

Just saw 1917 yesterday, and it's totally deserving of the hype and accolades.
