I'm sorry, obscure, what little literature there is on it, says so. As does my anecdotal evidence with people I know. And my own personal experience.

Run along then, Fubb. As far as I can see, you're the one who takes "issue" here.

Run along then, Fubb. As far as I can see, you're the one who takes "issue" here. Oh yeah, send the cripple home and you get to stay. That's the selfish, self-centered, myopic attitude that typifies the wannabe. About the existence of others worse off than me, of course they exist. That doesn't change my prior comments. You can be sure those people don't have the luxury of indulging the fantasy of being disabled. They are too busy surviving. You can't even put down a Big Mac long enough to get you to your dream of becoming a painless-incomplete-low-para-with-bowel-control. That says alot both about how incredibly stupid this whole thing is.

The only "stupidity" I see in this thread is your behavior. If you'd look up and around you, perhaps you would see that the individuals here are engaging themselves in a thoughtful discussion about deep issues. My desire to be a paraplegic ALONG with the pressure sores, incontinence, shit problems, stronger suseptibility to UTIs, and more has already been explained countless times. You're the only one who doesn't seem to grasp that fact. Perhaps you should set aside that great block of self-pity that's blinding your vision.

The disability community, such as it is-especially the 'Social Model of disability' proponants-love to project a really can-do, active, positive image of crips; that's why they all loved 'Murderball' so much.
Well if being disabled is OK, so normal...than why WOULDNT some AB people want to try it out?
But folks like wannabesgoaway show the other side, the part that 'Murderball' and stuff like it COMPLETELY glosses over; the intense fury and embarrasment and shame which goes with a disability.

I'm not going to repeat myself again, Triassic, so I suggest you take the time to read over some of my other posts in this thread.

If you don't care for the subject matter addressed in this particular thread, I would suggest you not bother coming into it to read it anymore. It's really that simple, fubb. I have just as much right as you do to discuss the issues I feel pertinent. I'm not a fan of every topic I see posted on this forum, but I don't go asking people to leave altogether because of my discomfort. I'm not going to let you run me off because you have some sick fascination with this that means you can't manage to stay away.

thoughtful discussion about deep issues As I said, you haven't earned a thoughtful discussion. With every post the depth of your self-centeredness is revealed further. You try to confuse reality with self-pity. You need a strong dose of the former, and not just when it comes to your wannabe fantasies. I susepct you use your weight as an excuse for a lot of things, not just your inability to achieve your dream of paralysis.

What, pray tell, would my weight "excuse" exactly?

I appreciate that, Triassic. Seriously. "Pretty alright" is better than I would expect most people to consider me.
