As a spinoff of the thread "Quotes, quotes, quotes" I'm creating this thread where all members of PD are welcome to share any lyrics from any song, that they may like, or are relevant to any aspect of their lives (including PD related issues), etc. You could, but don't have to, add the corresponding music video as well.
Let me take a stab at it. Song: Pleasure and Pain Artist: Gemini Syndrome
I find the following lyrics empowering and somewhat confidence boosting as a PWD with a chronic lifelong illness.
Infinite
The ultimate expression of who I am
Incredulous
The barren definition of a dying man
Presumptuous
To assume that a tomb is not the body you're walking in
In all of us
Is a sin that begins and doesn't end until we siphon the last breath.

Cool thread idea! I'm going to add to it with something slightly silly, but your mention of any PD related lyrics immediately made me think of a song I hadn't listened to or thought of in years. But when I first heard it a few years ago, I found it amusing and it always felt slightly like an inside dev-joke to me. I'll apologize in advance that this is not very deep or meaningful Song: For you Artist: Passenger Extract of the lyrics: [...] For you, dear I'd lose my legs to walk, dear No footprints in the chalk, dear For you I would [...] Whenever I heard that, I had to grin and in my head I would jokingly go "Har har, would you really?" It was one of the very few private dev jokes I had with myself

I'm going to revive this thread.
Song: Let Go Artist: Red
This is a Christian hard rock band, but even as an agnostic I can relate to the following lyrics.
Hey you, look what you do to me You bend and you bruise me Why you try to control me? But you don't know me How come you just wanna hurt me? How come you just wanna push me? I can't ignore you anymore 'Cause everywhere I turn you… You burn me, you break me You always wanna take me down with you What do you want from me?
I don't wanna be afraid, I don't wanna run away I don't wanna be evaded, it's more than I can take I'm never gonna be the same I threw it all away I don't want to be evaded Just let go, let go!!!
In my view, the singer is having a heated and angry discussion with God asking why he/she/whatever is putting so many hurdles and hardships in his (the singer's) life. He's telling God, "Let me go, dammit!" For me, I can relate because sometimes I feel frustrated and angry with my DMD since it has taken away quite a bit of my independence physically, socially, and mobility-wise. Nevertheless, I appreciate that I'm alive and now with my PhD under my belt, I have a lot left to do, and many new things to learn and experiences to have. I guess I still exist for a purpose…

Do you know when I set up my Alexa, I asked it to play Elton John— I’m still standing come on 👍 I’ve got a spider crawling over my forehead at the moment, I can feel the little bugger! I am on my side, so it’s drop the mouth stick and rub the knuckles over it. When it comes to lyrics I like Everybody Knows by Leonard Cohen, the drool voice like a man poised to slit his throat. Plus it’s a reminder to Pump Up The Volume a film I like.
For all you authors, I’ve been using AutoCrit for a bit, great platform.
Pete 👍

There are too many songs that I love the lyrics of. I listen to lyrics all the time and with that, songs touch me in different ways. I go through the motions with music and depending on how I feel at any given moment, I listen to a certain music.

I'm a sucker for a tribute song and this poignant, sweet ode by RHCP to their late guitarist Hillel Slovak is one of Keidis's best works.
My Lovely Man
I used to shout Across the room to you And you'd come dancin' Like a fool Shuffle step You funky mother Come to me All warm as covers Rest with me My lovely brother For you see There is no other Memory so sad and sweet I'll see you soon Save me a seat Well I'm cryin' Now my lovely man Yes I'm cryin' Now and no one can Ever fill the The hole you left my man I'll see you later My lovely man if I can In my room I'm all alone Waiting for you To get home Listen to Roberta Flack But I know you won't come back Well I'm cryin' Now my lovely man I'll see you later My lovely man if I can Just in case You never knew I miss you slim I love you too See my heart It's black and blue When I die I will find you Well I'm cryin' Now my lovely man Yes I'm cryin' Now and no one can Ever fill the The hole you left my man I'll see you later My lovely man if I can

One song I really like the lyrics of is Easy by Son Lux. It's got wonderfully dark imagery describing love. It just scratches an itch sometimes, especially in quarantine. There are a lot more songs I could share the lyrics of but this is a start.
Easy by Son Lux:
[Verse 1] Easy, easy Pull out your heart to make the Being alone Easy, easy Pull out your heart to make the Being alone Easy, easy
[Verse 2] Easy, easy You break the bridle to make Losing control Easy, easy Crushed what you're holding so you Can say letting go is Easy, easy
[Verse 3] Oh, easy, easy Burn all your things to make the Fight to forget Easy, oh, easy Burn all your things to make the Fight to forget Easy, easy
[Verse 1] Easy, easy Pull out your heart to make the Being alone Easy, easy Pull out your heart to make the Being alone Easy

There can never be enough yeah yeah's and nanana's in a song! I believe there's a strong correlation with the amount of nananas and yeah yeah's and the rockingness of the song.
This one is strong in the nananas:
And this one is strong with the yeah yeah's:
There's also a reason why some bands don't publish their lyrics nor you can't make any sense of the undecipherable grunting that they call singing. They have a good reason for that, in retrospect. People do get prosecuted for hate-inciting dogs these days!
Also: Bonus rock'n'roll points for artists whose lyrics revolve around singing about how cool they are. Why sing about love, when you can sing about your love towards oneself? I've always found that extra funny!

If you're in the mood for some nonsense, here you go! Super weird and super catchy. One of my favorite songs for sure.
FloriDada by Animal Collective
Child of limousines What's the best place that you have seen All of the hands that you have shook Home of the queen of everything fancy Is there a smell that you can tell Gives you some peace sends you to hell All of the beds that you have yearned Is there a dream to where you'd return Where is the plight with the most stars Where do you drink by Echo guitars What's the best shore seen from a boat Miniature heads that color the shore line If you could rest a minute to tell Get me some grass, iridescent shells I know there's a nest fit with a hatch Sunset a glowin' makes us all sweaty
I don't even know where to begin Or how I should start these days The green mountain south or The Clay of the westerns The Maryland meadows at midnight They do have a misty grace Take a trip to blue bayou Find Roy Orbison cryin' A continent molded from glass Or maybe a town I can taste Dresses that glow on Girls from Barcelona I wanna discover the key And open the everywhere place A mix of sky from Montana Dipped in Florida-da
Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da
Old demented men Where is the place we can extend Crooked state lines, polka dot signs Say that this place is a state of mind Pretty lip girls paint me the halls Not on a street, not near a mall Raise me a thumb from human skin That isn't judged by where it begins Show me the clams, show me the pearls Mail me a note sent from a world That isn't so far and always right here Where all the boundaries have disappeared And all the nights are stitched with a glue That's sticking to me, and I'll stick to you I'll take your hands, you'll take my face And everywhere home will be a good place
I found myself there a collagin' With all of the human race A dancer from Ghana Smiling in Tijuana I Frankenstein java with touches of Prada And corn on the plates A smear of gardenia In the fair hair of sweden And maybe I actually visited Some sort of mythical place Or was it a future Connected by sutures Oh let's go get lost in the image I made of the everywhere place I see the lads from Osaka Dyed in Florida-da
Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da
Where's the bridge that's gonna take me home? The bridge that someone's fighting over A bridge that someone's paying for A bridge so old so let it go Where's the bridge that's gonna take me home? The bridge that someone's fighting over A bridge that someone's paying for A bridge so old so let it go Where's the bridge that's gonna take me home? The bridge that someone's fighting over A bridge that someone's paying for A bridge so old so let it go Where's the bridge that's gonna take me home? The bridge that someone's fighting over A bridge that someone's paying for A bridge so old so let it go
Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da Flori, Flori, Flori, Flori, Florida Florida-da, Florida-da
