Based purely on the fact that there are more devs outside of this country than in it (at least on the statistics of this board - Come fly out to meet me.
You'll get to see the beautiful sights of a quant English town. Sample the finest in tea making facilities, and hear lots of Britishnessness.
You'll be able to sample the blandest of cheeses, See people walking their dogs, and hear us make awkward comments instead of saying what we actually mean.
Instead of saying "I'm going" You'll hear "oh, it's getting late?" "is that the time?" Oh, and if you hear us say "very interesting...." We aren't deep in thought engaging with what you've just said... It means we think you're talking absolute nonsense.
The weather here is fantastic with a myriad of climates from "I think it's going to rain" all the way to "monsoon season" sometimes within half an hour.
Be amazed when in the coldest of temperatures, the slightest Ray of sunshine sees us all strip down to shorts and sandels.
So fly out and meet me. I'll buy the coffee... It's only fair.

If anyone is flying out all the way to NEW ZEALAND at the bottom of the world, I'll buy you fancy dinner AND most fanciest cocktails at very select emporiums.*

The trouble is, whenever I think of New Zealand, I just think of that scene from Peter Jackson's Brain Dead where the kungfu Priest is like "I kick arse for the Lord!"

Lol, great post. I'm from the US but I've always felt a pull toward the UK. I was recently in London for a day and it was so surreal actually experiencing it (rather than seeing it on TV, etc). I absolutely LOVED it there.
A lot of my favorite music, TV, movies, etc are from the UK. I've been on a big kick recently and watched Fleabag, This Way Up, Friday Night Dinner, Gavin and Stacey, Gentleman Jack, and probably others I'm forgetting lol

A lot of my favourite music is also from here. It's miserable in tone, so it couldn't come from anywhere else.
The Cure, Bauhaus, Sisters Of Mercy, The Damned, My Dying Bride, and Paradise Lost. Misery is a defining British feature.

Im a big 80s new wave fan, the best stuff came out of the UK I discovered a band called Stornoway last year that completely took over my Spotify for the rest of the year lol. Also The Coral is a huge favorite

Seriously though... That Bauhaus video is absolutely breathtaking. Can we change this to a Bauhaus Appreciation thread instead? The novelty of this joke will wear off in a couple of hours anyway...

Also, after any post of mine gets a like from myrrh, the rest is kind of irrelevant....

Flattering as that is, the truth is that I am a very simple creature. Humor drier than the Mojave delivered in the deadest of deadpan posts? That's a like. Peter Murphy in any form? That's a like. Sisters of Mercy even tangentially mentioned? That's a like. These reactions are reflexive and, at times, troublesome. The first and only time I was in the presence of a crumpet, it was while I was in Scotland on a backpacking trip. There was a pack at Tesco that was crazy cheap, and after buying them and discovering first-hand why they were so cheap, I decided to feed them to the swans paddling placidly nearby. Swan facts: - Swans are much larger up close than one would expect.
- They have teeth and the things hiss when trying to make a point.
- Swans are not shy and have a very low barrier to menacing a stupid tourist tossing bits of shitty crumpet at them.

I'm guessing there's a moral in there somewhere.
You aren't allowed to eat a Swan in the UK. It's quite telling that there's no law against them eating you though.

Also. While we're posting relevant Simpsons memes. I think this adequately sums up the reality for anyone who unfortunately comes across this thread.
