Hello everyone,
I love the theatre and I was wondering who else does?
Who am I: When I am not shovelling money into my vault, and wondering around my three story mansion and reading thick leather bound books, chasing my dog about, basically I am Scrooge McDuck.
Okay, Okay there is no vault or mansion and I wear pants Scrooge McDuck doesn’t, I don’t have a lisp or wear bifocals.
I like to meet new people and hear their stories, I like to be thoughtful and kind, life is too precious and we are all trying to make the best of our existence. I love the sensory stimulation of the theatre and I love the tradition of oral story telling that goes back to the dawn of our existence, every human being is so interesting and unique.
Theatre friends required
What was the last piece of theatre everybody saw and how did it make you feel?
I hope Thursday is good to you all.

I actually just recently saw a play called "Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Carol". I enjoyed it very much, it was wonderfully performed by the actors and there was also some beautiful caroling involved. It was right before Christmas of course. I love Sherlock Holmes and I love the Christmas Carol in all its variations and so it was a perfect combo. It basically was a take on Sherlock Holmes having lost his "interests" and "skills" and succumbing to drugs and he was then visited by three ghosts who showed him his past and what caused him to be the way he is, his present how he was hurting people around him with his erratic behavior and desinterest in life and crime happening around him and of course his future if he wasn't going to get "his act" together and what it could mean to humankind...It had just the right amount of darkness to it but also ended with hope and joy for a better world. I loved it and it was a perfect thing to do around the holidays in downtown, beautiful old theatre and bad weather outside. I got lost in the play, it was so fun.

Guilty! I LOVE the theatre! The last show I saw was my own and, call me biased, but I thought it was FAB! I recently read "Cost of Living" and I'm convinced the playwright is a dev

I also love the theatre. I love plays, musicals, gigs, classical. Not really seen much dance or opera so they're on my to do list. I love going to see productions in the studio theatres at the Lowry in Manchester because they're usually quirky and edgy. You are up close, often directly involved and you go away with something to think/talk about. Great opener sw x

I love the theatre and when I was in school and later at university, I used to work at the local theatre as an extra, sometimes with a few sentences even and I played in several semi-professional drama groups for years.
I will happily watch anything, but I do like modern drama in small, intimate locations best. Sadly, I don't get to go to the theatre quite as often as I would like. The last plays I saw were "Alleluja" by Alan Benett ( on the deficits of the British National Health Service), "Judas", a one-person play where Judas explains himself (this role was played by an actor who is a high quad and who was on some sort of swing high above the audience, a bit nerve-racking for me...) )and the most recent one was "Berlin Berlin", a musical about the roaring 20ies in Berlin.

Wow Cliantro,
Being in your own show that is impressive I love the creative process, there is something transcendent about it, you can escape your own world and communicate to others via dialogue. There is a special energy between the audience and the actors which is very special especially because we live in a world of artificial connection, which leaves us feeling more disconnected than ever.
You have a very special skill and talent to bring joy and connection to people and you re-equate people with the beauty of the spoken word.
I am just about to start reading the work of David Mamet. Danni what a perfect combination I love Dickens and I love Sherlock Holmes as well.
I love that in the Holmes stories, the description of Victorian London, it is as though London its self becomes an integral character in the story.
If you want to see a good interpretation of A Christmas Carol, I strongly suggest you watch a film version were a British actor called Alistair Simms plays Scrooge.
Moonchild I love your passion for edgy theatre.
Loreley I love Alan Bennett, especially Lady in the Van, I also like the plays of the British playwright Lucy Prebble.
I am always up for going to the theatre.

What’s your favourite style of Theatre, do you like Brecht or Stanislavski, one of my favourite plays is Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

Mamma Mia! I’ve seen local productions more recently, but they were skits.

Not only do I love theatre, I've spent 30+ years in it and now I review it. I just saw DESCRIBE THE NIGHT by Rajiv Joseph which was utterly extraordinary. I'm in Philadelphia. Where are you based?

Oh that sounds like it might be worth a trip. Rajiv Joseph is one of my favorites. Seeing GAURDS AT THE TAJ completely changed my world!
