Here we are months into the pandemic and N95 masks are sill in short supply and unavailable to anyone but healthcare workers. That is a massive, debilitating FAIL. And they're doing NOTHING about it. An N95 mask would make all the difference for me because it works to prevent infection from others, unlike the minimal protection from other masks. 100% in agreement. Its not just about mask supply but about the assholes who won't wear them. Also you can order KN95 masks from Amazon and elsewhere online. They are basically the same, KN95 is just the China standard. You are better off getting a mask that is P3 respirator mask there filter about 99,95% of particles this is the mask I use which is a P3 respirator mask

United States education secretary Betsy Devos claims: “There’s nothing in the data that suggests that kids being in schools is in any way dangerous.” www.google.com/amp/s/www.politico.com/amp/news/2020/07/12/betsy-devos-schools-reopen-357840She wants schools to start off by re-opening fully or else lose federal funding, which would instead go towards private schools that do re-open. Basically yet another way to fuck up the public education system and funnel tax dollars towards private schools. And encouraging dangerous and potentially deadly full re-openings. Here’s the Fox News article about it so you can see how they framed it to make her seem like less of an evil psycho. It’s absent of the quote saying it is not in any way dangerous, although she did say that on their national television station, so it’s not like the Fox watchers don’t know: www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxnews.com/media/betsy-devos-schools-reopening-coronavirus.ampThankfully I’m not sure how much power she actually has to affect this, and I hope nobody listens to her and the president. I’m not saying we need a full shutdown of every single school, but please god... not what is being suggested by this ghoulish impersonation of a person.

Well, my cousin has tested positive for coronavirus. He is having symptoms but so far it’s nothing that can’t be handled from quarantine. Stay safe peeps. He was in a group of under ten during July 4 and believes that’s where he got it from.

Los Angeles and San Diego Schools to Go Online-Only in the Fall California’s two largest districts made the joint call amid a White House push to get children back into classrooms. www.nytimes.com/2020/07/13/us/lausd-san-diego-school-reopening.htmlAs much as I hate this because it means my kids will most likely be home this fall I also love how California is giving Trump (and Betsy Devos) the middle finger with this move. SACRAMENTO — California’s two largest public school districts said on Monday that instruction would be online-only in the fall, in the latest sign that school administrators are increasingly unwilling to risk crowding students back into classrooms until the coronavirus is fully under control. The school districts in Los Angeles and San Diego, which together enroll some 825,000 students, are the largest in the country to abandon plans for even a partial physical return to classrooms when they reopen in August. The decision came as Gov. Gavin Newsom announced some of the most sweeping rollbacks yet of California’s plans to reopen. Indoor operations for restaurants, bars, wineries, movie theaters and zoos were shut down statewide on Monday, and churches, gyms, hair salons, malls and other businesses were shuttered for four-fifths of the population. “There’s a public health imperative to keep schools from becoming a petri dish,” said Austin Beutner, the Los Angeles school district’s superintendent.

So my family returned from an RV trip and we wondered if they should get tested just in case, before settling into the house. I called and the available testing is still of the type that has a 3-5 day turnaround. So they would have had to stay in a hotel if we wanted to be sure.
WTF?!?!! After all these months and testing is still shit. By now those 15-minute tests should be everywhere. That would also be key to getting the economy going. This is total bullshit that we're still so behind on testing. We're the richest country in the world with the best science and we're still fucking around with these long turnarount times. The testing available to politicians and sports teams should be widely available by now. It wasn't a matter of money/insurance, I talked with an area-wide coordinator and she said those rapid tests were just something my family could get.

Took my cousin’s girlfriend more than 2 weeks to get hers back. This month, in Florida.

My sister and hubby had 48 hr turn around but another part of state, has been 10 days. No point then. This is WHY everyone needed to be on same page rather than piece meal and chaos.

This is WHY everyone needed to be on same page rather than piece meal and chaos. 2 days is the goal here. But if we want to fully reopen, we need turnaround in minutes. They could test kids before school. Some colleges are using a cool "pool testing" method where you test just 1 sample that is the combined sample of a small group. If you get positives you can use math to identify. But it's a lot faster because you're doing only one test per 10 or so people. newjess probably knows the math behind it.

Where I am from they're practically begging people to take tests. There have been several dates where anyone can get tested, no questions asked. There is another one coming up on the third.
My daughter ran a high fever for five days and without a doctor's order, I brought her for a fifteen minutes test at a local urgent care. My husband's family in NYC get tested all the time.
Seems like a state by state issue.

Although it is unofficial, I have it on good authority that Melbourne will go into stage 4 lockdown on Wednesday, because idiots will not do as they are asked.
Supermarkets, gas stations and chemists about the only things open. Masks compulsory. Only 1 person allowed out of a household outside at any time. Within 3 miles of your house.

Few weeks ago my dad starting some COVID symptoms and was told he'd have to wait 2 days to take the test and then 5 to 7 for a result. One day before the test he woke up with shortness of breath and a racing heart. Mom took him to the ER and they admitted him after ruling out a heart attack. Once admitted my mom was kicked out and at that point they assumed it was COVID, air filter in the room, everyone in full PPE. Finally they tested him which took 3 hours to get a result during which he started to panic he'd infected everyone in the house. Negative. They did a full heart exam, nothing. Only explanation, besides that he started biking again, is that it was anxiety from maybe getting too close to a neighbor a week before. Now he's being much more careful about neighbors.

It's still seriously fucked up here in the UK. At the start of lockdown I was told to 'shield' until the 1st August (until things were under control 🙄). Start of July most of country re-opened due to falling infection rates but I'm still told to 'shield' as it was still deemed too risky. Last week my area put under further restrictions because of a spike in infections but I'm now told I dont need to 'shield'. Fuckwits dont have a clue what they are doing ... I'm taking my own advice and staying put.
Since this all kicked off 2 family members have tested positive, asymptomatic and totally fine, 2 family members and 2 close friends have been made redundant and my son in law who is a paramedic has still not been tested. Almost like 'they' dont want to know to avoid having all the paramedics in isolation 🤔🤔🤔
On the bright side, my football team (soccer for the yanks) got promoted after 17yrs ... bloody typical the season they do it the stadium is empty
